Are you satisfied with your non-LED Headlights
Hello all,
How do you find the standard X1 non-LED headlights ? Do you wish that you bought the LEDs ? LEDs on my expiring 3 series were much better than my previous (2015) which had standard headlights . I appreciate any feedback ! Thank you |

No BMW should be driving around without the LED headlights. I didn't realize they even sold vehicles with halogen headlights until we purchased our X1 and realized it was equipped with halogen. Pay for the LED units or swap them out on your own. You won't be happy with the halogens, I can promise you that.

Now that it's something I'm aware of, I've noticed them on many X series, even 5 series. I realize it's all about draining our pockets, but BMW should be ashamed for shipping out cars with those things.

I was a bit dumbfounded on this fact as well. I mean I guess its understandable to help to keep a lower base entry price point in 2016, but during my search this year for a 2020, I couldn't find any with LEDs unless it had the Premium Package (included in this package). Technically, the LED headlights are available as a $950 standalone option, but I couldn't find any X1s at the local dealerships that were equipped with the standalone option...even fairly loaded Convenience Pkg equipped cars didnt have the option. I guess this is more of an issue with the dealerships as they equipped their allocations too.
As the 2017 car we were replacing had factory HID headlights, this ended up steering me to pick up an X2 where the LEDs and Sport Seats are standard....and I ended up being to find an M Sport X equipped one that fit the bill too.

The older you get the more difficult night driving becomes. I have been shopping for an x1 for a while, and you are right about the scarcity of LED equipped vehicles. Making the search more difficult is that it has to be a MY2020 in order to have been equipped with sport seats. Sport seats not available in 2021 in USA build. But I have found one, with plans to check out tomorrow.

All that said, if you love everything about the vehicle but it doesn't have the LED package, don't let it be a deal breaker. https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=26233947 |

I am not satisfied with the light intensity of OEM LED headlight when I was driving in city. it is dimmer than all the other brands of car. what's more, it's light pattern spreading is not wide enough.

Give those Hikari Ultras a try. Those things light up the whole block.

Hey JR, can we get a link to the taillights you swapped?
I've been waiting to purchase the headlights you got, but man $300 for shipping makes that a hard sell. |

All part numbers and process listed in the link. OEM LED taillights, you can get them for less than aftermarket so no need to go that route. Shop around, always check ebay first. I purchased the lights from www.onlinebmwshop.com, which is actually BMW of West Houston, TX. They have a 10% off coupon that can be used and no sales tax. I hear you on the headlights. Unfortunate there's nobody importing them in bulk into the US for resale. Still, I was able to sell the original halogens for about $700 on ebay, so all in all I wasn't mad about what it cost to do the upgrade. |

So, I wanted to ask you is it easy to replace OEM halogen headlights with OEM LED headlights (not LCI latest version)? I found them (used, like new) pretty affordable via German eBay which means that I have a European version of the vehicle. Thank you so much in advance! Bojan |

It is not BMW in Germany shipping out cars like that. It is the franchise called BMW USA, that is importing them in like that and are the ones compromising and draining your pockets.
