Brake Pedal seems to far left (US). Brakes and transmission are not to like

I posted several months ago a full review of the X1. I am renting my 3rd X1 today and can safely say I hate the transmission. Its choppy, slogs on acceleration, and not smooth. I will say however that the new X1 is peppy once it gets going. Very fun to drive at times.

New observations on the brakes. The pedal seems to far left and I found my foot on the right edge. Has anyone noticed or felt this? Also, the brakes feel soft and unlike other BMWs I have driven.

My biggest loves for this car are style, turning radius, peppy, comfy non sport seats, driving visibility, and fantastic ground clearance. My biggest dislikes continue to be 1) No manual shift ability without M sport, 2) Transmission is choppy (Against all BMW values), Brakes feel soft and off center pedal, 3) Car handles a bit top heavy, and not sure how it would do in the snow, or evasive maneuver. 4) Don't like the screen based user friendliness, and lack of physical knobs.

Why on #3? I actually enjoyed driving this car (See above multiple positives). Just pointing out a few negatives in my opinion. Transmission and brakes can all be upgraded later I imagine with software. Just drove an X3 also. I would sum things up as the X1 rules in narrow roads, City streets, Urban (Quick and nimble) where the X3 would rule the autobahn. You can feel the extra weight of the car of the X3 also. The X1 seems much lighter and tossable

I wouldn’t count on the transmission or brakes being “fixed” via a software update down the road if you’re test driving the car. You should be basing your decision on the car as is, as any changes going forward are not guaranteed. If you can overlook your listed negatives, cool. But what is tolerable for some, is absolutely a hard pass for others.

Don't count on transmission software updates if they haven't done it with customers complaining about it for a year now. If you don't like how the transmission functions, buying this car assuming an update is coming is probably a bad bet.

Good grief! Everything you bring up positive and negative has been hashed over and talked to death in other posts -- use search feature.
