Automobile Magazine compares 335i vs G37S
And to no surprise they pick the 335i Coupe.
They must not have had the best running 335i either as they only got a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds and 1/4 time of 13.6 @ 104 But the G37S ran well, especially it's top end pull. It's 0-60 time was 5.5 seconds, and 1/4 of 14.2 but trap speed of 104 mph. What's more is in the 0-120 mph dash BMW in 18.6 seconds G37 in 18.8 seconds It's no surprise that a smaller displacement turbocharged engine doesn't pull as hard as the larger displacement NA motor up top. Plus the G37S has shorter gearing in 2nd to 6th gear to help with acceleration. This is also evident in the 30-70 mph "passing" test where the G37 actually does it faster than the 335i (shorter gearing in 2nd and stronger top end pull apparently...but could also be quicker shifting too). So without a doubt in this comparo, the G37 was starting to reel the 335i Coupe in and not too far behind at the 120 mph mark. The G37 was .5 seconds behind to 100 mph but only .2 seconds to 120 mph. No excuses, but the 335i didn't seem to put up quite the numbers other ones have, and this G37 has put up the best trap speeds of any G37 I've seen yet. So I'll give it it's due. Nice performing stock car for the money. |

I tell you, I have seen so many G37s, i can assure you this one put up the best trap speed. I am trading my car in this weekend for one of the million G37s i have seen.

the G37 is kind of scary man. Infiniti mentioned more than one time that the engine is not producing the max power yet. expect a rev-up engine soon (a year or 2)`
One thing i noticed when i test drove the 335i is that it felt slower in acceleration at 100 mph than my current G35. maybe due to turbo lag, i dont know. The G is going to be nice. maybe not as nice as the bimmer, but its still a pretty darn decent car! |

The G35 might feel faster due to the increased engine noise, the increased vibration and so forth...I know I also have a G35. But to me the 335i not only feels faster, it IS faster than the G35. The G37 has closed the gap a bit for sure, but still not up to the 335i in acceleration. I think this test mule G37 they had was running exceptionally well in the top end. That's evident by the 104 mph trap speed. The G37 only picked up 24 hp and 2 lbs-ft of torque, but also gained 100+ pounds in weight. If should only be a tick quicker than the G35 which traps at 100-101. |

things might seem rather equal but say you have 1500 bucks to spend on each car in mods. Buy the Procede for the 335i..and maybe headers or an exhaust for the g37..which car do you think will have the most improved performance per mod dollar spent? I think you'd have to spend close to 6k to get the g37 anywhere near the power the procede is putting down (aftermarket supercharger/twin turbo). So for people that plan on modding these cars, the gap narrows as far as price is concerned between the two.

The gap also widens in the stock cars for anyone who lives at elevations above sea level. The higher you go, the further the 335i will pull away. |

I thought the faster-at-higher-speeds result would be expected. Skewed manufacturers hp notes aside, everyone has the G putting down more whp than the 335i. Our tq advantage gives us the edge down low, as we've seen, but at higher speeds, i'd expect the G to take the lead.
You don't like it? then Turbo Tuner, Xede, Procede, or ******.. THERE's your turbo advantage. How are we supposed to beat a g37 without vtak

at the end of the day after spending all that money yes, you will still be driving a nissan.
whether it's a bad thing to drive a nissan or not, that's a personal choice. i was okay driving a nissan when it was faster than previous generation 330. if it becomes faster again i have no problem dumping bmw for it. |
