X1 F48 Armrest insert

I just received the insert for the armrest storage cubby I purchased on Ebay.

It fit perfectly and adds and extra layer of storage as well as coin holder

Here is the link

https://www.ebay.com/itm/283898303890. I offered and ultimately paid $14 + tax. It has a rubber insert that says X1. I'll take a pic and attach.

It's definitely worth a look.

I'm looking real hard at getting this style for more storage capability; available in black or brown:

I looked at that one but wasn't sure if I wanted that area to be completely enclosed. Would love to see pics of someone who purchased and get their take..

I just went ahead and ordered it. I liked that it has a bottom in it to give me a "stealth" storage spot beneath it and the original console bottom floor. Gonna take forever to arrive from China though .

TL;DR: i bought one and will keep it because it blends in and provides hidden storage (can’t leave anything visible when parking in the city, unless you want a broken window).
However, usable storage Does Not Increase because the interior of the box was poorly designed.

I bought one with black “leather” trim. Blends in surprisingly well with the rest of the car.
Warning: for whatever reason, it blocks off a lot of otherwise usable space. Eg ~2” of the under-armrest storage is arbitrarily blocked off by the new storage box. Would have been better if they simply left the box bottomless!
Additionally, the front 25% of the box is arbitrarily blocked off. Instead of having storage under the curved part of the box, there’s a plastic wall.

I was looking at those too, but it looks like it forces your arm rest to be angled up at the front. Is this the case, or is if just a weird angle in the pics?

From what I read from reviews, it doesn't allow you to go down to the lowest setting that is normally available, but is at a position 1 or 2 clicks higher.... again, that's just from what I read so I can't state that with fact

I do like the concept of an actual concealing armrest storage unit, but recently my wife express more interest in a wireless charging solution, so I'm weight that into my decision now too.

Thanks for the pics! Looks good.

I presume that under the tray the USB port is still available based on how the coin holder section is positioned?

Working on trying to create and wireless charging solution and looking at what base equipment options there are to work with.

Yes, the tray doesn't interfere with the USB port. I just verified it.

Thanks for the quick confirmation

Now I have to figure out between the one you got and the other one that I posted earlier....your tray would visually hide the USB port connection and come up through the slot, but is the area big enough for the charing pad compared to the other one that is fully exposed.... decisions, decisions.

Thanks again!

Correct - the concealing box props up the armrest a bit and doesn’t allow it all the way down. Doesn’t bother me much, but i guess it depends on whether the armrest being angled up gets in your way?

There’s a pass through hole for power, not sure how big the charging pad is. Bottom of the concealed box is smaller than the bottom of the original under-armrest space.

Thanks, especially the last thing you pointed out

I've had this for over a year now and very happy. Mine is in Black to match my black interior. I've mentioned this before and posted pictures of it and the links for both Amazon and Ebay. I paid next to nothing for this and it has the cutout for the USB ports. It's definitely a must have if you want to hide stuff conveniently and the armrest angle is not a problem for me. I also installed these lights that illuminate the BMW Logo or M Logo to your preference.

Have you seen this possible solution for wireless charging within the storage compartment?:

Thanks. Yeah, I did...I also saw the version that they have as their last pic in that listing too.

I do like the concept of this one, but it's rather pricy for just a tailored mat for the bottom of the bin..though the right-angle USB C plug is a great touch.

The one in the last pic of that listing that is a tray style is really nice too. I saw it on ebay for about sub $60 and received some brief replies from the seller. From the info that I was given and researched, it doesnt draw power from the existing USB port and actually draws power from that harness behind that panel. It makes it more of a OE style retrofit, but I believe would render the area under the tray not usable anymore.

Have you found any that uses the pin connector from the OEM wireless charging snap in adapter? All the solutions I've found requires a cable and uses a USB port.

Zzzz
