Grey Poplar trim

Was anyone who placed their order in the first allocation (in the U.S.) able to order the grey poplar wood trim on their 135i?
(anyone who placed it in December?)

"sorry if this is a repost, I am trying to get some evidence to show my dealer so maybe I can get a little taken off my car for having to order the black gloss"

The idiots at the dealership I went to said it wasn't available because it is not an option in his ordering system. I opened up a web connection and showed him www.bmwusa.com. From there we went to "build your own", and I showed him the option - plain as day, right there. He didn't know what to say. He said it is a simple problem to solve - he would document the part number and include it with the order.....

"Don't let any dealer tell you it is not available" - they really don't know what they are talking about!!!

It actually might not be available. Didn't I hear they ran out of it early in the process and have "suspended" it as an option for a while? Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that's what I heard.

i remember that as well but can't recall if this was just someone's explanation for their CA not being able to figure out how to order grey poplar (i.e. speculation) or whether it was indeed fact.

I'm losing my mind. My dealer couldn't order grey poplar at first either. Kept looking and it eventually was available (matter of days) not sure why I didn't remember tthat. Maybe he wasn't lying but just didn't follow up.

This is mildly upsetting for me, I got stuck with aluminum. I will have to see what it looks like.

When I saw the Glacier Aluminum in Bryan and Stu's car last Sunday it was a pleasant surprise. I was OK with it before, but decided I definitely made the right decision for my car after seeing it.

That is because it is not an option it is the standard trim. I just went through this with the sales manager at my Center. On Saturday when the order was placed he could not "order" GP. He showed me the computer screen and only:AL, walnut and HG black were listed. I took the HG black but really wanted the GP so asked the 1Addicts community. Mikeo said it is the standard trim. I went back on Tuesday and asked the sales manager to try again. Still no GP listed as an option however when he deselected the optional trim GP was added to the car.

I believe this is a training issue with the Centers. They think walnut is the standard trim (like on the 3 series); so when AL, walnut and HG black show up they think that is what is available.

I had issues with the trim on my 128 order. I wanted the standard gloss black, but was initially told it was unavailable and I was forced to upgrade to gray poplar, which is like a $400 option on the 128. Later, the ordering system allowed my dealer to change to gloss black, but the change appears to have delayed my order. I paid my deposit in October, ordered the last week of December, and still have no confirmed production date.

I went with "High Gloss Black" or whatever it is - I didn't want that fake wood look in a sporty car with black interior and zsp.

It's real poplar, lightly stained black and finished with a high gloss coating, and looks amazing in person. I thought the wood added a luxurious feel to the interior while the black stain lends a sporty feel to the wood, good balance. I was originally worried it was too much black, but the contrasting textures and sheens really look nice on the same config'd 335 I sat in.

The high gloss black is plastic with glitter in it or something.

sweet - mine does not specify "high gloss black" on my "factory ordered options" like shown above. I didn't think any of the trim would be like shown above since they are all zero cost options on the 135i?

On my interior descripition it just says "Black leatherette/black trim"

The only reason i am worried about it is my SA originally messed up 3 weeks before it was scheduled for production and kept the default light burl wood. I called him the next day and he assured me it was changed to high gloss black. I will seriously have high anxiety the day I go to pick up at the dealer just hoping i do not see a brown wood trim inside!

Does anyone think the dealer could order trim and install it?

I may try to get them to do it for free, they told me they couldn't do it when I ordered, obviously that isn't true.
