Can't close hood

Can't close my hood on my x1 I released it twice to open and I let it drop and and pushed down both sides it still won't close.

You need to drop it from about 50cm and even put a little force behind it. It seems way overkill, but that is the way to close it. You do not need to push down at the sides - if it has not closed properly release it again and drop it from slightly higher.

It seems ridiculous to slam it from a height like this - but that is how it works.

Ours was a pain to close on one side when new. There is a very simple one nut adjuster on the "U" shaped component on the underside of the hood (or bonnet for UK!). If you adjust the nut so that the "U" gets a bit longer, it makes the hood close much more easily. Just do it gradually until you get a secure close on both sides. I find the hood closes best with a sort of guided shove with both hands, each hand towards the front of the hood aligned with each of the clamps.
