With Sport+, no DTC icon was shown on the dash, except it was mentioned only on the screen display showing Sport+ was activated. Perhaps I was expecting something more from Sport+?
Thank you! I’ve been hoping someone who enabled Sport+ would follow up with their actual experience with it. When I’m in the X1 I’m in Sport mode 95% of the time already, so something a bit more aggressive would have been welcome.

We did a 60 mile trip to the beach and here is the cumulative feedback:

1. No significant difference between Sport & Sport+ with DTC activated. Event the RPMs stayed the same when I toggled from one mode to the other.

2. Without DTC, Sport+ has a sharper throttle response, though only slightly, over Sport.

3. Lesser (or no) difference between Comfort & Comfort+. Absolutely nada.

Mine is a MY2016, with standard M-Sport suspension and ~20K miles. I had 3 adults in the car and gas was half empty. I'm running on GY RFTS (OEMs) tires and OEM wheels. Road condition was average not Autobahn-like but it was also not a war-zone.

Like a previous poster commented, the only material difference you can feel in the seat & steering wheel are Comfort (softer) vs. Sport (stiffer).

HTH!

You have stated you have the standard M-Sport suspension. Accordingly, there will be no difference in the suspension because it is not adaptive. So Comfort (softer) vs. Sport (stiffer), cannot happen.

Maybe, the car is materially less stiff in COMFORT than in SPORT, I did feel the bumps on the (same) road when taken again in SPORT mode.

You may be technically correct on the suspension, however, all I am stating is how the car feels in these two modes, not challenging your point.

It is called the Placebo effect because there is no electrical connection to change any settings on adaptive dampers that are NOT fitted to your car.

ventjock,

Thanks much for your walkthrough to code Sport+. Successfully coded with BimmerCode.

Car does seem to stay in a lower gear longer and revs a bit higher. Not a drastic jump up from Sport and I tend to drive in mostly Comfort with the wifey. But, good to know I now have an option to kick it up a notch whenever I'm out solo.

You can add a CAI - Cold Air Intake and hire a programmer that has a laptop, software and an ECU ODBII connector; you can program the engine to produce at least 50HP if not more and considerably more torque. The engine is quite capable of producing much more HP. In fact the same engine is found in most of the new BMW vehicles from the 2,3,4,5, X1, X2 and X3...Just slightly different HP ratings. So the engine in the X1 has in fact been dumbed down. Your software programmer can also program all sorts of features to your X1 such as delayed mirror folding when you press the key FOB or the door handle. Pressing on the door handle with your finger for a slightly longer period of time will close all the windows, the sunroof, the sunroof cover and in some cases the hatch. Holding down the unlock button on the key FOB also opens all the windows and sunroof to cool down the vehicle before you enter.

It´s my first day using SPORT + but I think that the engine is getting higher revs. What I am sure is that using the shift pads the gearbox is smoother than in stock SPORT mode

Hi,
Can you confirm what the FDS_MENUE_TEXT and _SIGNAL changed?
Mine are set at : menue_4
....for _1 to _5

I changed them to menue_3, but did not see anything change, so i out them back to menue_4

Much appreciated if you could verify what that changes.

Cheers,

Hi Takabo,

After coding comfort plus and sport plus. Does your sport plus mode appear in speedo for selection? I can only see comfort plus in the speedo.

The KOMBI (instrument cluster) coding shows you the driving mode you've selected. If your BMW didn't come with the additional driving mode selections like SPORT+ or COMFORT+...when you code the BDC (or what ever module that controls these functions)...you also code the KOMBI (cluster) so that you can see the new menu selections displayed.
