My Misano Blue X2 ///M35i has arrived
After being held way too long at the port, the car was released Monday and I've finally been able to pick it up last night. I've only had the chance to drive about 40 miles thus far so will provide a more in-depth review after a month.
Initial impressions, its a great looking car in the metal and its a nice mixup by BMW in designing a car that appears as a crossover but is nearly as low as a traditional vehicle...and it just looks different than anything else that bmw offers which I really like. The color is great, I luv BMW blues and this does not disappoint. The maga color is great and the M sport seats are very comfortable and look dope. The interior lighting is really cool, the LEDs offer a very high class look to the interior and I think it really makes the car at night. As for driving dynamics, it drives like any sports oriented BMW in the daily driving situations and on the highway. I haven't pushed it yet of course but it feels very direct and tight unlike any other crossover. As for the performance of the new engine setup, its great and will not disappoint. Coming from the F80 I didn't know what to expect about how the feel and response would be, but its very peppy, the pedal response is good for daily driving and as I get more time behind the wheel I'll push it to see how it all comes together but no disappointment in my experience thus far. A highlight that adds to the fun is the exhaust tuning, its really nice for a stock setup and you'd never think you're in a 4 banger! LOL. Only thing I can't figure out is on the Display screen content as it doesn't make sense that it appears you cannot assign the map to the right side of a split screen presentation...ie you can't have your radio/media controls as the main control with the map on the right as a smaller screen as all other bmws prior have allowed... Am I missing something, does anyone know how to show the map on the split screen ?

Many thanks for the write up! Everything sounds good so far. I cant wait to get my hands on one for a test drive. The X2 28i I drove with the sport suspension handled so much better than my X1. The bigger engine should make it fantastic.

Current F80 driver here as well! My lease is up in March and this was on my shortlist, but I got absolutely blasted for it on M3 forum, lol. That said, how would you say that it compares to the F80 from an overall standpoint?

Beautiful car - congratulations!
The question I wrestle with is - 19" wheels with dynamic dampers or 20" wheels with no dynamic dampers? Which is better for having fun with the car? Apologies if this has already been discussed somewhere. |

having fun is surely the 20", since it has summer tires and M-sport suspension. |

Yeah, not sure why the dynamic dampers arent available with the 20 wheels...
Guess that makes sense. Wish there was some reviews out there to watch, but it seems like this car has no buzz after the press announcement several months ago |

Congratulations M630, first customer delivery on here I think?
Those seats really make the interior quite special. Interested to hear how you get on over the coming months.

Knowing how some react I didnt even bother posting on the F80 board as anything else spoken about is dogma. Ive had just limited time to drive yet as Im travelling this week for business, but I can say for sure that you wont feel its a slow ride or that its a big letdown from the F80. This thing drives nice and is quick. It will feel similar (putting flame suit on as I type) in day to day feel on local roads unless you are inclinded to drive the F80 hard and to redline for each gear in all drving sitations which most owners do not. Hence you will feel good behind the wheel and not lacking for local driving power. I believe the more that people and reviewers get behind the wheel, the more apparent trhe stories may be as to how tood and special this thing is. I would tell anyone interested in a change up to drive it before crapping on it!

Definitely go with 19s and the DDC, you want the performance advantage over the looks....

Congrats, it's very sharp!! Is the right exhaust real or is it fake? This is my biggest complaint on the x2.
The ambient lighting is great. I just drove my x2 from Seattle to Atlanta with a lot of night driving and the lighting was enjoyed. |
