Squeaky backup brakes
Got a 2016 cpo x1 3 months ago
Brakes started squeaking but only first time each morning backup out of garage. Then fine the rest of the day Is this ok or should I get brakes serviced Has only 26k miles |

If the brake disks/rotors are not dry when you put the car in your garage they'll form a very slight layer of rust overnight and the squeaking could well be the effect of the rust being removed by the pads as you reverse the car onto your driveway/road.
If that's the case, it's quite normal. |

Squeaky backup brakes
My X1 brakes do the exact same thing you described. I talked to BMW about my squeaky brakes. They told me this is normal on all BMW models. They also told me BMW uses high performance brake materials which makes them squeal. They even gave me a pamphlet from BMW that explains the brake noise. Still sounds strange to me and is annoying.

Yup mine do the same. Very squeaky when it gets close to or below freezing. Along with the squeaking, the rear sometimes makes a loud howling noise. Probably just the brakes, doubt its a rear diff or something.
