I don’t hate it, but it does not make me want to replace my M240 that just came off lease last week.
I do like the new seats, the new colors, the wider arches and wheels, the grill and the side profile. I’m ok with the headlights, the mirons and even those big triangle vents. I really don’t like the tail lights and the oval exhausts. I’m very disappointed by the weight gain that is barely offset by the power bump. I’ll probably just buy my F22 and keep it a few more years or get a CPO M2 or a 981 Cayman. A manual Supra, if ever offered, would be tempting too. |

It's really funny seeing a bunch of (presumably) 45+ year old people complain how "the old one is better" and "they dont make them like they used to" anymore.
Sucks to get old, yes, but you guys will be fine seeing these cars around and watching your mass-produced cars lose value because "the new ones have winglets on the mirrors why doesn't mine". |

If your M240 is a manual…then it is likely to go up in value like the F30 340i with a manual did. Good luck trying to find a good used one of those in a couple of years. |

Terrible unnecessary fantastic plastic everywhere …. Negative on this design angel eyes are a staple for BMW I don't like these headlights or the magic open close vents… I feel bad for the up coming M2 if they have to work off of this styling

Looks ok to me. Front end could be a bir more aggressive. Rear is fine. I like the door handles. Interior is corporate BNW. Thankfully the grill is not oversized so it a win.

so the M240i X-Drive weighs what a G80 M3 Competition AWD does... makes total sense ... long live the F87 M2

This is 80% M2 aesthetically. Has any non-M ever gotten as much of the full M aesthetic as the G42?
To me, this is as much of a step up from the F22 as that car was over the E82. If these cars inherit the new driving qualities of the G8x translated for a smaller wheelbase platform, BMW will have no problem meeting sales goals. |

Mixed bag. The G87 seems like the best shot at not going completely nuclear with the G-series styling for M cars -- but the headlights and tail lights will take some getting used to. I don't like how the front of the car gels, it's very cartoony looking, and the rear.... oh the rear.. screams 'bmw micky mouse version'
Now, I never planned on getting a 240i, but this is the bare metal we're going to get with the G87 m2/comp/cs -- can the front/rear bumpers and wider stance do enough to make up for this cars shortfalls in design?? Then the weight. Add in Made in Mejico and meh.. better drive good!

Was never going to like the design.. this is the generation before we go full electric and I think cars are just starting to look less and less "muscular" "hunkered down" and the lines are starting to look like a car you'd imagine was electric.
If you told me this didn't have an ICE motor, I'd assume it was an electric bmw.
