Likely, but not necessarily. It means car has hardware (WLAN Port and Aerial Antennae). CarPlay still requires an active Telematic Subscription for the service.

I have both: "S6AK Connected Drive Services" and "S6AE Teleservices". Is that sufficient? If yes, do they ask me to pay for this after a while?

So good to have someone who answers all these questions as BMW is apparently not keen on this. Thanks!

No. This means only car has Telematics (SIM Card). With that you have individual subscriptions, some free, some paid, such as RTTI (Traffic), CarPlay, etc.

Maybe you (or anybody here) could point me towards a decent and not too expensive aftermarket HMI for Android/apple car that would be installable between the display and the entrynav2? Thanks!

Not me. Nothing I've ever looked into. Both my cars are EVO ID5/6 from factory.

You need to verify ENTRYNAV2 Head Unit has WLAN Port by checking Label on top for WiFi Logo, or back of unit for WLAN Port. If you have WLAN Port, CarPlay is then possible.

So.. couple of options here, and the road I will be going down for sure, as just picked up a 2017 X1 with the 6.5 screen, no nav.

The screen upgrade itself is really easy, and has two most common options:
1. OEM screen - buy a 8.8 or 10.25 screen out of a wrecked car for cheap, then use Bimmercode (or similar) to code the new OEM screen size. I would recommend checking the car first with the expert mode with Bimmercode, and see if what screen sizes the car natively displays.

Code the new screen size, install the OEM screen, DONE.

2. Install an aftermarket Android display like from AvinUSA, 10.25 or even the new 12 inch screens to jump your screen size significantly. I highly recommend the Bimmercode step from option 1, as if if you leave your 6.5 display at default, the newer large screen will have to tile the iDrive image, as 6.5 wont stretch out to 10.25 or 12 without looking like garbage. Code to larger size oem screen, install the new screen, and BAM.

Car play is easy from there.. with option 1, you can then install something like the Bimmertech MMI model (which also allows cameras and more, will install the backup camera on this X1 for sure) which supports Apple, Android and more.

Or...

If you went for option 2, the displays from AvinUSA will support Android, Apple, backup cameras and more and you are set there.

So.. dont let the lack of OEM options get you down, as there are GREAT ways to still add this technology.

I will be very likely installing the 10.25 or 12inch Avin display into the X1, including backup camera very soon. I will produce a DIY video to go with it, to help folks out who want to do the same.
