A 19 year old got pulled over doing 254 km/h on the highway outside Toronto last night. And no, we don't have an Autobahn here.

It was an X6 with the M colour decals.

158 mph. That was probably fun, but the ticket won’t be.

He must have had trouble finding the accelerator. Almost any POS will go that fast

Being in Canada though they will probably seize his car.

Car gets seized for 7 days, minimum $2000 fine and licence suspension on the spot. He will have a tough time getting any insurance for a very long time.

50KHM over the limit in Ontario gets you this.

In BC 40km/hr above the posted speed will get you 7 days car impoundment, 3 penalty points, $368 fine ($483 if over 60km/hr). Jumps to 30 days car impound for second offense within 2 years, 60 days for subsequent offense within 2 years. Excessive speeding is also considered as a criminal offense, your driving record will automatically get reviewed by the Superintendent and he/she may hand down further suspension or possible criminal charge.

7 day impound will also cost around $500 to get your car back from the impound lot.

In Arizona going 40 KM/hr could get you a criminal speeding ticket (threshold is 20 miles over the speed limit) but cops rarely give you the criminal citation unless you are way, way over or tick off the cop.

But what that kid did is so far out of sight that it would definitely incur his arrest and criminal charges. That speed should be reserved for the track.

Bone stock, my '01 Lightning would do 158. My wife was asleep. She woke up about the time I decided that was as fast as it would go and she proceeded to scratch the ever-loving-you-know-what out of the dash. Not sure what she was thinking...but I think that was the fastest she had ever been. Still makes me chuckle as I'm typing this.

Here in Ontario we have a Stunt Driving law which incurs the following if speed exceeds 50km/h over posted limit. Taking place on a highway though, OPP most likely will handle the charges under the Highway Traffic Act and it will go to Court (a Judge) to determine the fine. Let's just say it will not be in his favor.
  • Immediate seven (7) day driver license suspension
  • Immediate impound of vehicle
  • Driver license suspension
  • Fine between $2,000 – $10,000
  • Jail up to six months
  • 100% increase to insurance rates

My friend got impounded recently coming back from YVR, impound fees for 7 days was $330 or $390 for him

He's lucky he got pulled over instead of killing himself. No one has any business doing 150+ mph on a public roadway, let alone an inexperienced 19 year old driver. If his parents have half a brain, they will take the keys away from him after they get the car back.

I scratch my head when I read people on some of these forums saying they want to buy, or bought, their newly licensed child an M. Why? Just because you could doesn't mean you should.

Carry on.

I'm surprised the PA state trooper was so kind, I've heard they're a**holes but never got pulled over while living there.

at 165mph if you didn't stop it's not like they'd catch you....
