New Tesla roadster

0-60 in 1.9 seconds

8.8 1/4 mile

250mph top speed

620 mile range

$200k

I can't wait to see that thing shame hypercars and even megacars for a supercar price
Really? I have no interest in electric cars and don't really much care if they "beat" any of these.

There is no character to these electric vehicles, no soul. To me, part of the sports-car or any vehicle experience, is the sound of the engine and roar of the exhaust note along with the little quirks that are sometimes unique to that vehicle or model. If you take that away I feel like it also takes away the joy and connectedness that goes along with driving. Like taking away manual transmissions.

Yes, electric vehicles are fast but I don't think they appeal to all the senses like a combustion engine. I would be more likely to accept a hybrid sports car then full electric which to me, is the best of both worlds.
Yeah like the smell of gasoline, oil stains in your driveway, and the experience of having to go to a gas station. Not going to miss it. Maybe I'm just getting old but even loud exhaust is starting to annoy me. Used to have a 135 with a cat back, mustang with full exhaust, but really all that noise is tiresome.

the roadster will be another cool 1 trick pony from tesla. Ever notice that they never have motortrend or any magazine do a track day or lap times with it ??

the car can't sustain that level of performance for more than a minute. even the model S got beat by a 200hp BRZ around car and driver lightening lap.

It will be a fun car to cruise in though for sure. you can take it out at night and not wake the neighbors (or your wife). and here the crickets and frogs while cruising the backroads.

i didnt understand why BMW even did such a vid..
power / grip ratio is the key..

and the limit for 0-60 is 0 seconds.. constant relapse of an infinite acceleration or not ..
and closest thing to that should top fuel dragsters.. they probably have it like 0.5 seconds to 60.. i guess they re the closest thing what psychics can allow..

60-200mph is more important on track. If you are dropping the speed to less than 30mph on proper FIA Grade 1-2 race tracks (NOT short circuits) then you are driving wrong.

My personal record on Suzuka back straight after Spoon is 241kph which is up there with MK1 GT3 - thanks to close gear ratio of 3-6 and an engine befitting of those speeds.
