Replacing Halogen Reverse, Rear Turn and Brake to LED Bulbs
I decided it is finally time to replace my reverse, rear turn signals and brake bulbs to LED. I loved how much better the LED headlights, front turn signal and fog bulbs turned out on my X1.
Has anyone here changed out their halogen bulbs in the back of the car and has any pointers to give me? I had my Indie shop do my front bulbs and I figure the rear should be easy enough for me to do it. I also have BimmerApp to code the flickering if it occurs. Thanks! |

It has the service repair manual instructions for getting at the taillight and tailgate bulbs. Per the newtis service manual, all the rear bulbs should be P21W except for the rear non-reversing light on the tailgate which is W5W. I recommend taking a look at the bulbs themselves to find out if the little metal nubs that secure into the housing are 150 or 180 degrees apart. There may be variations on how they're spaced - this part I'm not sure about as I haven't tried replacing with LEDs yet. Good luck! Share any pointers you may have afterwards. |
