Now that you've had the intake for a little while, any complaints? did you have to disconnect the batter for the install? was it simple?
I installed a BMS intake on my 335 and i love the turbo sound. i never expected much if any power from it. and never liked the idea of converting my stock intake from a cold air setup to a hot air one, but sound was worth it to me. so after opening the right exhaust valve mod, i'm looking at improving the sound up front... then maybe a muffler exhaust... saw Supersprint one. for that money i wish bmw would offer a performance one for the x1. i wonder if a cheap magnaflow would work well on the x1... |

Maybe I’m missing something but I can’t seem to install the sensor into the BMS intake. I think they might’ve sent me the wrong part

Found out that I had the wrong housing for the MAF sensor. I'll leave the pics up as a FYI for anyone wishing to order the intake. Please make sure to select the option with "OVAL MAF hole".

I have one of these. I know a tuner that has software and a ECU/ODBII connector on a laptop. He tuned my car's engine for less than the aftermarket ECU tuners. The BMS intake is top quality and it does everything it should. Engine, sounds, etc...I love it. Thanks!

Started with the BMS intake, then added a catted DP, then the JB4, upgraded the CP, a Wagner IC, and then finally a flash tune. I initially got CELs (P2196) after I got the DP so I fixed that with a mini cat spacer. After the tune I was getting a P0171 (lean) CEL caused by a long term fuel trim running around 25-30%. Talked to the tuner, they never see this. So I flashed back to stock. CEL is still there. Do a smoke test, no leak (I was suspecting a vacuum leak). So I take it to the dealer, they keep it for a week (and now I'm getting nervous b/c they can probably see that I've flashed the ECU a few times)... and they tell me that the car is running lean and at times rich b/c of the after market air intake. This made no sense to me. The intake never caused a CEL in the past. So I clean the filter and put it back on, fuel trim is still lean around 25%. So I say what the heck and put the stock intake on this morning. CEL is gone and the LTFT is down to 3% after driving it around most of the afternoon. **I use OBD AutoDoctor to read data** Guess I'm going back to stock for now. And time to flash the tune back in.

Hello.
Just wondering if anyone above with the BMS intake experienced the Check Engine Light coming on? Fault Code P0171 - System too lean (Bank 1) Thanks |

Do aftermarket intakes typically give CELs for the F48?
For the people that have this already installed, have you experienced any? |

I have a K&N model 69-2026TTK (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017J19RJ2/) for the last 18 months and no CELs so far.
The sound is excellent! However, since it's an open filter (like many others, including the burger one), it's sucking hot air from the engine, and as you know, that's a bad thing. I also read here in the forums that some users get a CEL with burger intake (air too lean). That's why I'm considering changing to aFe (https://afepower.com/afe-power-54-12...-intake-system) with the additional cover (https://afepower.com/afe-power-54-12...e-system-cover). This way, you get much more airflow than stock, and since it's completely closed (like the OEM intake), it won't suck hot air from the engine. There's another one from Dinan (https://www.dinancars.com/products/i...arts/D760-0051), but it has an open window, so I will stick to the aFe.

I have the Dinan intake for ~2 yrs now. No CEL. Nice whoosh sound off-throttle, and better partial throttle response. Mind you, I also have a Downpipe and Flash Tune.
