Rear popping noises
Anyone experienced noise from the back of the car in the form of popping when going over small-large bumps? The pops are very consistent with what seems like blown shocks, but our X1 is only at 20k. Also can anyone confirm if the silver shock and yellow bump stop should be visible from above the tire? Thanks.

i know from some italian owners suffer same noise, BMW service fixed adjusting the trunk closing system, the small rubber block on the inner side was fixed too low so the trunk move almost free in the locker system resulting in noise
just my 2 cents |

With the weather above zero the noise has gone away. Had the car in for an unrelated issue and they couldn’t find anything. Will have to wait until it gets cold again and bring it in. Most likely a hatch issue.

Hey guys, make sure the sound is not coming from the trunk. I was desperate to find a solution and thanks god I found it in a different thread:
With time the hook of the trunk gets worn out and the dealer will ask to replace it but you can easily get rid of the noise without changing the hook by adjusting the two circular pads on both sides of the trunk frame. They can be screwed in and out and in that case if you screw them out of the frame they will make the seal tighter and consecutively stop the trunk from jumping around. This was making me crazy, I even went to the mechanic to see if there was a problem with my struts but to my surprise they said the car was in great condition. Hope that helps |

Yes this issue seems to be the rubber/plastic pads freezing and not providing enough dampening between the hatch and body.
