Scuff marks wheel repair
Have you guys done DIY repair on aluminum finish? I have done a few on alloy wheels but never on aluminum finish.
I bought CPO X1 and did not realize several heavy scuff marks until I got home. I am worried that I might not be able to find matching color. Anyone had success in matching the aluminum finish? Last edited by malelee21; 03-23-2021 at 03:28 PM.. |

Hit a curb avoiding an ambulance and scraped wheel, A company near me skimmed it on a special lathe then laquered it. Now it looks new. There will be similar firms where you are.

You cant match the finish, the aluminium colour is the raw aluminium with a coat of clear Lacquer.
Very difficult to do a smart repair, Most wheel refurbisher's on these diamond cut finishes strip the wheel of everything, paint it the dark colour, use a computer controlled lathe to skim off the paint to reveal the raw polished aluminium surface where required and then laquer the whole wheel. |

Wheel Repair
I picked up a used 2016 and when I saw the wheels, I could not believe how someone could hit so many curbs.
Took mine into my local wheel refinisher. They re machined the wheels with a CNC lathe and then re clear coated the wheels. You would never know they were repaired now. |
