Overheats at the track though...fail. Base C7 transmission overheats at autobah speeds...I used to really like the new Vette but cooling is very poor on this car. I hope GS solves those problems.

Do you have a C7 stingray or Z06?

What were your peak temps?

I've owned both a Z51 stingray and Z06 and have tracked both in the summer in the SE (96 degrees at VIR) with no issues.

Test drove a C7 before purchasing the M4.

The C7 is so fast and agile. And loved the exhaust note.

And I was in a brown mocoa leather interior, and loved the color of the leather and the dashboard.

But I don't like the rear of the Vette at all. I can't even get over it, I can't even mod it to make that butt sexier.

And then I test drove the M4, and though I wasn't impressed by the exhaust note at all, I felt at home in the more upscale feel of the interior. And it was equally exhilirating, in a different way. Since I knew I was adding an exhaust and downpipes for the M4 to alter the sound, I got the M4.

The Vette is nice, but it's just not me, and it never has been. I tried to love the C7, and have been in a few modded Vettes with proper shoes, but it's just not my look.

Same for the ATS-V. The Caddy exterior and interior just don't sit well with me, but the Caddy mechanicals are pretty nice indeed. Just wish it had the Vette V8.

You probably didn't push the car.

why is there no Z06 time on the ring? easy. because it can't get through one lap without overheating otherwise they'd have posted something.

2:07 C7 stingray Z51 manual on stock PSS VIR full (96 degree ambient)... Bone stock except track alignment
Same car 1:19.3 at Roebling, exact same setup

1:15.3 C7 Z06 manual non-Z07... Track alignment, and Cup2 tires in Z07 sizes on stock wheels.

I'm killing it

You never did say which version you drove and what your max temps were?

Specific track, ambient conditions, and your experience level would also be useful info.

For what's it's worth, my C7 Z51 (7MT) had no heat issues whatsoever over several track days running 25 min lapping sessions. Ambient temps in and around 80f, IIRC.

The only car I've had heat issues was my E36 M3 but that was because there was a mechanical issue

Look forward to hearing your feedback on the M2.

Very well may be the car that gets me back into a BMW...... It's time!

I believe they improved cooling on both the Z06 and Z51 for 2016. A few owners on Corvetteforum have data-logged laps in various ambient conditions with no overheating issues. Of course it's hard to gauge how hard those drivers are actually pushing the car at the track. Only one way to find out for sure, buy one myself and test it!

Buy yourself a low mileage CZ6 and put 8 to 10k in Heads, Cam, Full Exhaust, Headers and Intake and you will have yourself a 570+ whp N/A beast. This setup is faster than the C7 Z06 and a lot more fun to drive. Not nearly as much tech as in the C7 and a 427 engine like a proper Vette should have. My last 3 cars were bimmers, E46 M3, 135i, and Z4 35i and I am very happy to be back in an all motor car and I really like how the CZ6 drives.
Make sure that you get the 3LZ package or you will be very unhappy with the interior.

Having owned a C6Z06 and C6 Grand Sport both with 3LZ/3LT interiors, I will say that anyone that is used to European interiors are not going to like any of the C6 versioned Vette interiors. They are horrid.

The C7 is damn nearly an entirely different car than the C6 versions. The C7 Grand Sport is the car to get. Widebody Vette with NA engine but with the performance tracking bits of the Z06....without the overheating issues at the track. 1,000% improvement in interior appointments and tech.

Older model as others have said but... Wow that's a hell of a video. Didn't look like he was going that fast and he certainly wasn't being wreckless. I guess the C6 really is that easy to lose control with.

I feel like Corvettes don't age very well. The previous generations look so cheesy and old.

I feel like most other sports cArs age much much better
