rear view mirror issues !!

wife has a 2020 X2 , great little car.

thing is this... I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn off the auto lowering mirror option when Im backing up. Its like the second I need to use the door mirrors they turn down deeming them useless. It has literally left me stranded where I cant back up.

Second thing is the back up camera is horrible, the angle is terrible and everything is moving way to fast, I cannot understand how back camera technology has gotten worse, it looks a back up camera from 1997.

Can someone please help me turn this rear view mirror feature off before I take a sledge hammer to her car.

I dont want the mirrors to move .... ever.

Any help would be appreciated.

The passenger-side mirror only tilts when the driver/passenger mirror-adjust selector switch is on the driver selection, i.e. to the left. It's on page 101 of the owner's manual "Automatic curb monitor". So flip it to the right, but unless your wife hates it too, you might hear about it whenever she backs it up

In the city, that can be pretty handy to avoid the heartbreak of curb rash. I coded mine to a smaller angle (70 degrees iirc), which doesn't cause the view to vanish and sometimes comes in handy.

Left - passenger side mirror tilts in reverse
Right - passenger side mirror does not tilt

The driver's side mirror never tilts in mine. You say "mirrors" - are you sure?

The backup camera took a bit of getting used to, it's like backing up through a telescope. But I got used to it and I actually like the precision.

Yes. It has been this way going back decades. I can go back to my old 1985-1991 three & seven series and the same procedure to deactivate the "tilt-n-reverse" is the same as the new BMWs of today. If you move the switch from left to right...it either activates or deactivates the mirror's tilt function.

Check your owners manual for verification.
