m35i Winter Tire/Wheel swap to 18" BBS SR and EXTREME CONTACT DWS 06 (pics)

I had my doubts this would all turn out okay, but it did. Shout out to Nick Schreve at Tire Rack who helped me through the process. Ordered 'em, picked 'em up outside of Reno, and my son put 'em on a couple of days ago. No issues so far...

Not the lightest option, but I liked what I read about the wheels on other BMW threads (35 offset option): https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...racite+Painted

I've run the Contis for years and it's my favorite all-season for the east-side Reno climate. High speed rating, sure-footed, and more supple than other all-season tires in snow...

Those are a good bit better looking color-wise than I expected. The "anthracite" is not too dark. Nice. Good clearance, and, can't beat BBS quality.

Curious about two things
1) Why did you pick the +35 over the closer-to-stock +45?
2) Have you weighed the fully-mounted new vs old?

Probably because the 18” diameter needs more spacing outwards to clear the calipers.

I went with what Tire Rack said, because they guaranteed fitment and I actually thought they weren't going to fit (haha). Happily proven wrong. My son and I were curious about the weight difference but never weighed them. He was doing the lifting and mounting and said they seemed pretty similar on his "arm" scale. 18s vs. 20s and run-flats vs. not, so lots of factors. For me, it's pretty perfect. I really like the ride quality of the non-runflats (always have) and am okay with carrying a flat kit, and they feel (almost) just as sporty as the 20s. And, the wheels look pretty good to me. But, I know once the weather gets better I'll be itching to put the 20s back on because the car looks almost comic book cool and it drives like a go-cart with them on...

Looks great! and m630, the bolt pattern is different than your F80 so it won't fit without buying new rims (whether or not the tire profile matches).

X2 is 5x112 instead of the typical 5x120. I’m running into the same issue with my M235i and X2M35i. Just purchased some 20x9 +40 wheels. Can’t wait to get them mounted. 20s look so cool for sure. I was told it looked like a hot wheels car running around the AutoX track. 😂

Question: did you install new electronic TPM sensors. I just changes from 225/40R20 to winter Continental H225/50R18 and i cannot initialise the TPM... I get a failure message? Thanks

If you got new sensors and you cannot initialize them.. Then you either have the wrong sensors or the tire shop didn't properly clone them...

Or they didn't install sensors at all.
Call your installer.

Yes, I opted for installed sensors from Tire Rack. They fired right up the first time I drove the car...

You have a profile shot with the new wheels on? Looking to see how much gap remains with the decreased offset.

That's what the whole series of pics is about. Maybe I don't understand your question...

My miss. My question should have been do you have a picture with the new wheels on from either the rear or the front looking down the length of the car. I'm trying to understand how much the wheels are poking out now since you are running a 35 offset which pushes the wheel out when compared to the stock offset.

Looks nice!!
Is it just me, or do the stock rear wheels/tires look like they have just a tad too much negative offset? Especially picture #2.

All stock wheels are very conservative and are negative offset which is why everyone who is OCD about their car looks either adds little spacers or gets wheels with less offset. I went pretty aggressive for my winter wheels (I searched for the "right" used set) and so they might even be a tad too positive. It makes the car look pretty aggressive and like a truck I like it.
