*Looking to post this in another thread with pictures; however, I’m new and just made an account.*

My fiancé and I recently purchased a CPO 2016 X1 with 44,500 miles at the end of February. Currently has 51,067 miles on the clock. Went underneath today to complete an oil change and discovered crusty, dried coolant on the front right side and oil leaking from the oil pan by the transmission, thus leaking its way onto the starter and covering it. Called Hendrick BMW, today, to get it looked at on Wednesday. Should be covered under the CPO warranty (“fingers crossed”) and told them the issue (I work on cars myself). They want to charge a diagnostic fee, so we will see how it goes.

Had a few rattles and squeaks coming from corners of the panoramic roof (small black screws with torx heads on metal track come loose from plastic underneath—just need tightening). Other than that, no issues. Can’t wait to get rid of the run flats.

Observation.

With problems or not, it seems that most owners want to get rid of the run flat tyres.

I just purchased an X1, new BMW owner here. Was debating between X1, GLA 250, and Q3. Ended going with X1. Greater interior space over GLA (which does not look like a SUV at all), and better looks over Q3 made me jump the gun. 31k miles 2016. Fingers crossed it is reliable in the long run.

The right choice. Good luck on the road.

Karabas; Even the new 2019/20 Merc GLA 250 is inferior...and the new 2020 Audi Q3 is no match. I studied the market before we purchased our 2018 5 months ago. Even looked at Lexus, Nissan (Rogue and Murano), Infiniti QX50 and QX30 (Merc GLA 250 interior and Infiniti exterior, Jag, Land Rover etc....Ultra quiet and comfortable and just the right size as far as a urban vehicle in a city with bad roads. Added a few extras in the car. I found a BMW mirror with the compass, auto dim and the garage door opener built in for $250 and sold my old one (2 months) for $100! This car is amazing! And you can get a lot of small cool options for the car too.

BMW X1 F48 Recalls

Hi everyone,

Is there any website where I can find the recalls for my model? (using the VIN code of the car).

I have seen a lot of people saying they had it issues with the EGR valve.

Which were the symptoms and how they figured it out it was the EGR valve issue?

Only issue I've found is seized tire rod when trying to get alignment. Replaced under warranty.

2017 X1s (Jan 17 build) with about 15K miles, no issues at all. Doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. Will be buying new tires this year. Happy wife, happy life!

Update - 117,000 kms. CEL came on - needed to replace tank vent valve.

Front brakes are down to about 4 mm - will need to do them in the spring most likely. Rears will get done at the same time.

Been following BMW's standard maintenance schedule and still going strong.

Speaking about standard maintenance schedule, I have a concern about it.
When I picked up my car almost a year ago, I asked the dealer when should I come back for maintenance and his answer was "don't worry, the computer will tell you when". Well, the computer says that my first maintenance should be at 30000 kilometers (~19k miles) which seems a huge number to me for an oil change Are your schedules the same ?

The maintenance interval varies by country: some longer and some shorter.

In Canada (where we only get the 28i) it's 15,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first. In the USA I believe it's every 10,000 miles (16,000 km).

That is correct for the US. 10,000 miles is the interval.

my fuel injector module in the gas tank failed - I guess this is one of the least reliable part because the dealer - BMW Tulley Nashua - they had the part already has fixed in 3 hours!

BMWs have always been in the middle/average reliable cars and it can't be better than them like Lexus or some Porsche reliability because of they change a lot of things in every year. Maybe that's why BMW users like it that way

I have 2017 BMW X1 2.5D
first month - loose power and error appear "drivetrain fault" as per BMW known problem on some sensor or whatever with turbo - fixed in 1 day.
just now have a problem at 47k KM with auto gearbox most likely, on low rpm bwt 4th and 5th gear, if accelerate car shake a bit and it is not going smooth, however on higher RPM all working good, sport mode of gearbox also in general help to avoid this problem..

I bought my '17 X1 as a CPO, it was an executive loaner with 9k miles on it. Currently at 72k miles and having all maintenance done between my local BMW dealer as well as a local BMW only shop.
A couple small warranty & recall issues (coolant leak) and brakes roughly every 24k have been my only concerns.
Otherwise the car has been problem free and fun to drive.

I use this car as my work commuter putting on about 25k annually, mainly freeway miles around 80mph with some traffic.

My current concern and the reason I am posting is the engine noise. It seems to be louder lately, the is the most chattery (especially when cold) engine I have ever had...

Anyone else have a loud clacking engine? When I drive next to another car on the passenger side with that window down it becomes very apparent how loud it is. Hoping its not an internal engine issue as I only have a few thousand miles left on warranty. I'd like to get 110k miles out of this engine and trans.

Had the car in for service and they told me they couldn't replicate the noise, maybe its normal?

Hey man, I had a problem with turbo hose pipe and changed it, but there is again fault messages and check lamp on. Message is something about low pressure. Can you tell me what sensor causes problem to you?

Not just on the X1. We found the Run Flats hard and noisy on our X3 and replaced them with Standard tyres. We have an LCI 2020 X1 xDrive 2.0i M Sport on order and specified it with standard tyres and a spare wheel.

First thing that I did when I received my 2018 X1 back at the end of January 2019. I had to put on winter tires and removed the run flats and bought 19" Niche aftermarket wheels and installed Toyo performance tires: 245/45 all around. Very happy. Car just passed 20,000 kms. Weird grinding noise coming from front brakes...

Don't care about minor issues such as these as its a lease and will be gone once warranty is up.
.

Front rotors and pads replaced because of noise from rear when reversing? They replaced the fronts pads and rotors while the noise was coming from the rear brakes? Was it a loud squeak? Mine does that in the winter when I reverse. They made me pay for a brake cleaning and nothing was changed under warranty even though the car was only a few months old. Took possession of the vehicle in late January 2018 and now after almost 18 months and 20K kms there's a grinding noise coming from the front brakes.

I did my own upgrade of my HIFI system. I have the mid HIFI option and installed a pair of Pioneer Tweeters at the corners next to the outside mirrors and I installed a Pioneer Powered Subwoofer which comes with remote that conveniently fit in the little compartment next to the steering wheel. I has an active cross-over and I was able to adjust the sound so that the subs that are located under the seats are more like lower mids. It cleaned up the sound and the clarity. The little 3" mids in the doors are too small to be worth changing.

Was this at 27K kms or miles? My dealer said that my brake issues are not covered under the BMW warranty even though my 2018 X1 is only 18 months old and has only just now reached 20K kms. Not miles....Now I'm getting a grinding noise coming from the front brakes.
I don't drive hard. We drive mostly in the burbs with free flowing traffic with synchronized lights. Mostly local driving with very little highway driving.
