I find this very poor design as its not a constant feature of the car,below is from handbook.
Depending on the stopping situation, the park‐ ing brake is engaged automatically. Steptronic transmission: In some parking sit‐ uations, the parking brake is automatically en‐ gaged, when selector lever position P is en‐ gaged. In these cases, the parking brake is released automatically when you leave the se‐ lector lever position P. |

Reviving an old thread. Just got an X1 to use as a daily instead of the X5M and totally agree with this.
The inconsistency with the park brake is not great and is probably a bit unsafe to be honest, is there a way to code it one way or the other? Also, why is the manual so vague - what are the 'some parking situations' where it will activate? Why not all parking situations? |

It's not auto-hold that I'm talking about.
The X1 automatically applies the park brake if parked on an incline (and auto disables it when leaving, I think) I'm looking into the coding of this so it always automatically applies, regardless of incline, or never automatically applies when parked. |
