ummm we ran in the same group, both played drums. (he played guitar first) Mine were in a basement in area and everyone abused them lol. not best buds but we all lived like 7 blocks from each other in N. Springfield from elementary to H.S. (well he went to private a year and than dropped out)

I was good friends with his now band manager from N. Springfield, we chat online occ. I haven't seen Dave since like 1990, his Mom lived there until he built her a house near him. She was also my English teacher 10th grade

Friend I used to hang with (he had first Atari !) and went on to be Dave's best bud and tour guy, is what "Word Forward" is about, Jimmy killed himself after being sent home from Japan tour way back.

Dave went from class president in 7th grade, to rock & roll star...crazy. Odd that there is a plaque in Ohio where he was born, but left at 3 to his lil brick rambler in Springfield, nada there...where everything happened. Wow that was a long time ago..weird that I'd probably remember more if I knew what he'd become..lol but then he wasn't "Dave Grohl"

Wow, cool story! Grohl always seemed like a down-to-earth dude and genuine. I remember watching him on TV when he spent some of his years in Seattle during the "grunge" era. He regularly appeared on local TV shows, mostly comedy and he was hilarious. I mean if you look back at the old video for "Learn To Fly" it's funny. It's also crazy to see him when he was younger since I haven't seen those images for so long. Looked a lot less scruffy. Lol.
