Here’s it is... at last! http://www.carscoops.com/2017/10/new...ake-on-x1.html

I like the new headlights and digital instrument cluster (which I would assume are coming to the X1 soon). Would be interesting to see the new “M Sport X” trim on X1 and other X models in the future. New colours are also always welcome. Glad they’re not as dull and boring as the rest of BMW colour range (50 shades of grey!).

Other than that, there’s not much else that I like. It’s not as mature as the X1 and nowhere near as practical. But hey, if there is a market for stupid convertible 3 door SUVs, I’m sure there is a market for this thing.

I missed it! Official presentation of X2 is today - pictures and specs "all over the place"

I am happy - but will wait for M model!

Well, I've had a good look and really...it's not too much different to the X1, in my opinion...just a little more raked at the rear and a narrowing of the glasshouse from the B pillar back. That said, I like it and am glad BMW has foregone the "dog-squat" style of the X6 and X4, both of which jar with me (as do the 3/5 series GT styles)

Supposed to be an homage to BMW M1, which has two badges above each taillight. Don’t ask why!!

ttimbo couldn’t agree more RE X4/X6 and GT models. I hate them all with a vengeance.

Noticed dashboard has a leather trim effect with stitches, etc. Looks nice.

Also, lower dashboard is the same colour as red and oyster leather seats. It’s a couple of tiny photos in the German price list. But I think it looks a bit tacky and should’ve been black. Red one specially. Oyster lower dash will be a nightmare to keep clean. http://www.bmw.de/dam/brandBM/market...8930083412.pdf

I have crosschecked, and believe there is not a single point - apart from wheelhubs- that are identical with X2 Concept nor X1.

The overall impression is more X2 Concept than X1.

The only flaw I have seen is the tapered rear end - looking from rear.

"My" X2 M35i, will be further enhanced.

Has an X2 M35i been officially confirmed by BMW?

Not formally but in "the grey zone" - "everybody" are talking about it.

It´s like "beware of the wolf" - a self generating prophetia, like a financial crash.

One Swedish Auto Magazine said today it is supposed to come end of 2018.

I think it will not appear, if at all, until the new 1 series is released ? because BMW will be more keen to have a "hot" replacement for the M140i to compete with Audi S3/Golf GTI/R, MB AMG than for a "hot" X1 series ? just my theory.

Could be right.

My reading is that X2 has come out as a vehicle "in its own right". I.e. to complete the "saga" there should be a 300+ bhp M version.

He who lives will see......

Perhaps so, but they have not yet released any car, including in the MINI range, with version on the B48 engine with that power

I would like to see how BMW squeezes a turbo inline 6 transversely in this FWD platform.

Patently, they can't and won't. The engine would be a high power version of the B48 (which doesn't yet exist, at least in production). The "35i" (or would it be 40i?) is just for series branding consistency.

"a 300+bhp version of B48 has never been done!"

The earth is flat and it is impossible to stand an egg.

Again: BMW has done "things" to X2, which they have never done before or rarely.

I have been scrutinizing pictures of the blue X2, and:
-front is very aggressive and good.
-sideview has very much the shooting break look of F-Pace - which is good.
-rear is a bit messy and tapers in, in a not very nice way.

Real shame the launch doesn’t bring us a higher powered petrol. I don’t know about other countries but here in UK the Government have already said Diesel engines are far too dirty and must be fazed out quickly (within a few years!!)

I won’t buy another diesel car (I’ve had a few) and while 187hp isn’t bad I would need at least 250 in a car of this weight!

For once - Government is right Though I am more opposed to the noise and 5000 rpm only.

There is the 231bhp petrol for X1 and Mini - should be out in a short while.

I didn't suggest it was not possible; clearly, Audi, BMW, Ford and others show 300+hp from a 2L is easily achievable. Just that one hasn't appeared from BMW yet...and my personal opinion it's unlikely to be seen first in the X2 once (if) it does come to fruition.

I assume BMW should not appear in the above list, as it seems to make the above comment contradictory! (Sorry I’m nitpicking again)

Must admit I’m surprised we’ve not yet seen 300hp from a BMW 2ltr engine!
