Race in San Diego claims the lives of 2 in a BMW

its pretty sad. 2 college students from UCSD were racing some Lexus when the driver lost control and hit a tree. the Lexus sped off. i for one will curb my temptations to engage in racing from now on. respect your rides and yourselves. drive safely.

theres a few pics of crash on the site, the car is absolutely destroyed.

Sad to hear no doubt. Push your limits and someone pays. I feel sorry for the passenger.

i don't mind racing under 100mph in a straight line.....anything to do with 2 unexperienced drivers taking a corner side by side while racing is not good....

This is why they're so strict about this in San Diego. That's where Drag Net started and police actually get warrants for arrests for street racers.

RIP to those 2 college students. This mistake was unfortunately a fatal one.

I, myself, am totally against street racing too. I've lost too many friends that way.

Couldn't care less

They got what the they deserved- stupidity has a price, and they just found out what it is..... or was.
Glad they did not hurt anybody else- that's all I ever worry about.
Nothing makes me laugh more than when a drunk driver kills him/herself.
Nothing pisses me off more when a drunk driver kills/hurts an innocent person.
Sadly, they are not mutually exclusive.

Easy Tiger!

I am against street racing and drinking and driving but to say that offender get what they deserve by dying is going a too far. I would much prefer that people learn their lesson without anyone paying the ultimate price. If someone is caught doing street racing or DUI, they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. No one deserve or need to die for this.

I am glad no bystanders got hurt. May these two kids rest in peace and I am sorry for he loss of their families. This is very sad.

Peace

x2 on the "at least they didn't kill anyone else." Too bad they couldn't learn their lesson without killing themselves.

true, racing is immature and stupid, but i don't think any of them deserved to die, especially when they're your friends. i went to ucsd too, and the guy driving the beemer, leonard, use to go out with one of my friends. that's how i met originally met him. he was a great guy, and we always went out together during the weekends. i don't think he can be judged by this one act of stupidity. his passenger was his girlfriend, and the accident happened in an area i use to live real close to.

were they acting stupid? sure. but do any of your friends deserve to die just because of something stupid they did? i don't think so. punished, yes, but i'm sure we've all done something stupid in our lives.

so, to Urnuts, easy off there. i for one, don't feel like he deserved to die for his mistake, and i don't think you'd feel your friends would deserve to die for a mistake they did either.

RIP Leonard.
