Rosberg won that championship due to Lewis car reliability issues. He had the big DNF while leading in Malaysia like you said, otherwise he would have ended the season with 5 straight wins and the championship. Also had multiple races where his car failed in quali. Mercedes also inexplicably swapped Lewis's entire crew to Nico's side of the garage before the season. No one still has an explanation for this move.

Rosberg is an unlikeable idiot who comes across as an entitled brat everywhere he goes. I've met him 2x BEFORE Lewis joined Mercedes. Didn't like him then, don't like him now.

There is a reason Mercedes has cut all ties to him. Similar to Williams cutting all ties to Jacques Villeneuve. When a manufacturer cuts ties with their former WDC, it is very telling.
Also don't forget the 2 races he literally drove Hamilton off the track.

He was very lucky to win the championship that year, and he knew it, hence his sudden retirement at the end of the year.

Even though I am not a fan of Vettel, I think he is nice person off track. You and your son will enjoy it, I think.

I think we have to acknowledge that Hamilton ran Rosberg off the track just as often, specifically at the start of some races.

Think so too,as I saw it was six of one and half dozen of the other so all's square in that box.

Please provide proof of this.

Running someone wide as a turn is exited isn't the same as running someone off the track or deliberately crashing into them. Rosberg is notorious for employing these tactics just like his team mate for 3 years: MSC.

HAM is seen by EVERYONE in the paddock as a VERY clean driver.

Who would you place at fault here?

Even the other drivers know ROS is dirty. Notice Button's reaction here.

Canada 2016, first turn.

I'll admit that Hamilton is a clean driver these days, but that wasn't always the case. Remember the skirmishes he had with Massa back in the day? Some were Massa's fault, but other's were his.

Again, there is a difference in running wide VS running into.

The HAM-MAS mess was about being in a bad place mentally. It was his worst season in his entire career.

I'm talking about deliberate actions. Wasn't ROS sanctioned by Mercedes multiple times?

Here is the view. Please tell me what Lewis did wrong in this situation. He is on the inside line and hits the apex of the turn.

I would say the last lap in Austria '16 is a near exact re-enactment of the Senna/Prost clash at Suzuka back in '89.

Honestly, what are we doing here? Racing or ping pong?

In all seriousness, I probably would have stayed a little farther inside, but that was a big boy racing move. No issue

First turn of the first lap and you call THAT ping-pong? THIS is first lap ping-pong.

We could probably debate all day whether he ran wide or purposefully pushed him out there on this particular instance. But to be clear, you can run wide on purpose to gain an advantage (you don't necessarily have to make contact). I agree with you that Hamilton, to my recollection, never ran into another competitor. But I do think he purposely ran wide in a few races to disadvantage Rosberg. And thats not to say I think Rosberg was a saint.

I think its telling that in Canada 2016, he was the only one to run wide and not provide enough space for his competitor. Everyone in the big gaggle behind didnt have any issues with that. Couple that with the fact he was playing catchup to Rosberg early in the championship, it doesnt seem that farfetched. But that's just my opinion, we'll never know the truth without input from both drivers.

I'm fine landing here.

We will likely find out what happened when Lewis writes his book in about 7 years.

I really do hope he ends up writing that book, sounds like it would be a fascinating read. We're about half way there

Cant find a way to link directly to the tweet, but here's Walter Koster's funny interview with Lewis about that book
