Switch from 6.5" (no touch) to 8.8" (touch) on X1 2016
Hi everyone,
I'm just bought a X1 2016 with 6.5" screen. I would like to change it for a 8.8" (oem). My X1 has the S6UNA Navigation system. I found a procedure from @[MJE60] to do the change . My question is the following one, there is two oem screens that exist : No Touch : 65509387451 Touch: 65508797400 The no touch is the for my 2016 car, but on the other hand The "touch" version is mark as "exchangable retrospectively" and I would love to have touch screen. Do you think it will work to use the 65508797400 instead of the older one (65509387451) ? |

Yes you need to code otherwise you get a blank screen.
coding change needed to upgrade 6.5” display to 8.8” for f48 Using Bimmercode in expert mode HU NBT 3005 display_pip_config section Change CID_Display_res from 800x480 to 1280x480 Change CID_Display_ size from 6.5 to 8.8 Now go out and enter 3001 section and find Display_Variante and change from schmal (German for narrow) to breites (wide) Now go into Nav section Find Display_Resolution and change from 800x480 to 1280x480 In brief 4 coding changes in 3 separate section of NBT HU ecu All changes require expert mode. The exact locations may change in the appinwhich case use the search function “e.g display” and it will provide a list includes location. Screen works after first two code changes, nav will work also but you need to change res in nav section to get full screen effect in map view and finally section 3005 change is needed otherwise idrive home screen will only show two menu icons (like in 6.5 display) rather than 3. Please note, make sure you buy correct 8.8” screen for your car, secondly if your car currently does not have a touch screen And you buy a touch screen you will need to enable touch function in Bimmercode. I have touchscreen but very rarely use the function (fingerprints annoy me), so make sure you really want it as non touch 8.8” screens for early models are significantly cheaper. - you my have an NBT evo HU and the part you bought is for an Entrynav HU - you may have a car with Entrynav 2 and the part you bought is for an Entrynav HU - you may not have coded the new part, was your 6.5” a touch screen, cos the 8.8” screen you bought is NOT touch, - the part you bought may have been locked (rare but some regions have part locked to the VIN) |
