Glass got Smacked!

Hi.

Please help.

Driving errands for the wife. A large rock nailed my windshield.

It's bad. Pictures attached.

Pushed emergency services button, talked to them, transferred me to dealer, to order the X2M35i glass (if they don't have it in stock) and all the technology attached to it. Made an appointment for 1/8.

Went online to submit a claim to State Farm. They have some 3rd Party Lynx service handling glass claims. So far, it took me a half hour to talk to two people to try to get them to have the BMW dealer certify/remove/replace the glass so it is OEM and not no third party crap. Especially with the camera's and all that attached.

So, I realize this glass is robot installed but anyone have this done? Any recommendations, comments, concerns, etc.

Ugh. Happy Christmas Eve!

Thanks.

Most dealer service departments use an outside glass service to r&r windshield. Some dealers will do windshield replacement in house or if you take car to their body shop. Ask.

On some models, drip molding clips need to be replaced when swapping windshield. BMW also sells glass sealant and it's commonly used when glass is changed at dealer. I have heard of instances where 3rd party glass service uses their own sealant just because it's easier for them to work with what they know. Different dealers have different policies on this.

Make sure replacement glass has BMW logo in lower drivers side corner. Also make sure glass has features for your VIN, heads up, active driving assist, rain sensor, etc.

Ooh boy that is some killer rock! It might help that you having the heads up display, more than likely there is only BMW genuine glass as an option (on my older e60 that was the case.. I assume it is probably the same for the X2). The people doing the windshields all use some nice quick seal sealants and the technology is great. I've had probably 3 or 4 windshields on my various cars replaced over the last 5-10 years and have never had an issue compared to.. say the 90's when the sealants weren't so good. I wouldn't be so worried.

BMW glass replaced with no issues? I hope so.

Just shy of two grand by BMW dealer.

Working through process with State Farm with zero deductible.

Cracked more. Black Gorilla taped!
