The first ever BMW X2, i have been pretty harsh on this model earlier, not really seeing the point with it.
But the size of this makes some sense for me now.
As a former E84 owner, i really liked the low and sporty SUV hight of this model.
The X2 seems to be a E84 of some sort, as it is lower and sportier than the X1.
It also seem to be more marketed towards a younger audience than the X1.
And finally the ugly UKL gearshifter is gone, that alone is a great piece of news, the colors is great as well.
How is the price compared to the X1?

Are we going to have an X2 M40? Not sure they are going to be able to fit an I6 inside that engine bay?

UKL is i3 and i4 only.

M35i, not M40i. It will be powered by 300hp-ish high output B48 variant.

Definitely not. No I6-powered UKL vehicles.

Which would be the same thing powering the 2 GC if my understanding of current rumors is correct. Is it me or with the drop in ride height vs X1 do we need this and the GC?

That's the plan according to what we know, yes. M135i, M235i, X1 M35i, X2 M35i.

Still very different vehicles. As far as I know, the 2 GC hasn't even been confirmed to have a hatchback. Even if it does, the two are still very different. The 2 is not a two box form factor like the X2 is, for example. Speaking of two- box hatchbacks, BMW still has the F40 1 Series hatchback coming in 2019 on UKL as well, replacing today's F20. Think Mercedes A-Class vs. GLA. Similar silhouette, but one's a crossover and one is a sport hatch. There are still things to differentiate them such as seating position, not to mention weight and driving dynamics. People still know the difference and both still have their place on the market. Maybe eventually they do converge, but not yet.

I was waiting on the X2 to see competition for GLA. Surprised it's this good honestly, I like the way this looks. Definitely need to see a dark color on the M Sport X though...

I think it's about time BMW retires halogen headlights. I get it, they're cheaper, but this is getting ridiculous. We're in 2017 and BMW's are rolling out of the factory with headlights from the past century.

What the hell is that "lipstick / milk-stache" that's going on the front and why does it have two extra roundels glued to the rear pillars - what even is this nonsense????

Ehh, the car is ugly, but that's subjective

I'm not crazy about the new grill shape and front bumper cover but the rest of the styling actually isn't bad. I particularly like the chopped roof.

Mechanically the engine is facing the wrong direction but I understand. Nice to see an 8-speed auto instead of the 6-speed auto in the Minis.

Good second car for a commuter that doesn't want a hybrid or EV.

The Cooper is the only Mini that still uses the 6s auto. The Clubman and Countryman use the 8s on all of the four cylinders, but still have the 6s on the three pot.

So it's a BMW hatchback with huge wheels and not really an SUV/SAV. Not bad actually. I thought I would hate it.

More than likely there's going to be a recess stamped into the body panel, along with two holes for the grommets, i.e. it'll be the same as a hood.

EDIT: confirmed. watch the video a few posts up and you'll see the recess stamped into the quarter panel.

I like the C pillar Badge, I wish my F80 M3 had it,
Old BMW used to have those.

My thought exactly! The roundel on the C-pillar is a design cue should not be resurrected. Can I order an "extra roundel delete" option?

Also, where is the X2 M35i details? That was the model I really wanted to see info on.
