Ok I got bored reading all the posts but heres a bit from what I read:

the PRICES i got were NOT for e92s, as I don't one, I dont care for it's resale value.
I was talking about fully loaded e93s
Also, e90s are MUCH cheaper for 1) they cost less to begin with and 2) most people (from what I can tell from the area I live in) prefer the coupe over the sedan (me included, sedan is great, but I am just a 2 door kind of guy heh)

Who cares about track times?
Are we going to go on the track and race like pros?
No...
If you know how to drive like a pro, and want to do that, THEN go look at track times.
I drove my friends'/cousin's 335i in the canyon/road/etc
I drove the Camaro in a similar manner and it just didn't feel right for me
I could care less if it beat the 335i on the track... I'm not going to do that now am I?

Also, the Vette, as I said, an amazing sports car for the money but cheap interior/luxury because it's not meant for that. it's meant for raw performance. if you want more comfort/luxury go for an AMG/M/etc.
the new Vette engines are amazing, and they handle great too.
I love driving my friend's stock Vette, the back end always goes out and it's a blast.
It's also easy for donuts, burnouts, and a great car off the line and in the corner.
But to me, I need more than 2 seats, and I don't like having a manual as a every day car, which is why i got the "autopilot"
But IF i were to ever get a Camara/Vette/similar car, it would of course be in 6MT, but I don't plan to.

The guy who kept siting track times and all... great info..but.. unrelated to us... like i said before, are we pros going to go race on the track?

No matter what you drive, be it a Vette, bmw, merc, honda, toyota, whatever, whatever feels right for your is going to be the best for you.
I've only had the 335i for a little bit which is why I can barely do anything I used to do with my old merc/porsche (my times up/down Stunt Road [local canyon] are HORRIBLE in the 335i compared to my slow ass C230 and Boxster)
But as I said, what you are comfortable with is what you drive the best with.
Screw horsepower/torque/track times.... we're out to enjoy ourselves in our every day life... not compare track times of OTHER drivers who have times we (or most of us) could only dream of achieving.

And the ignorance in this thread alone, is astonishing. Let's get this through everyones heads.... Any C6 Corvette will smash your 335i on the track or the straights. It will also out handle the M3. The M3 isn't slow. A 8:05 minute time around the 'Ring is not slow and not bad of a time. But, the Corvette is indeed faster on it around the 'Ring.
Yup.. but then again, they're different cars... one is a 2 seater street racer car one is a 4 seater street sport car
(ok that didn't really make much sense but i think you get my point lol)

This about this:
the Lotus, with it's little toyota engine, will out handle anything mentioned here.
Ever driven on?
They're amazing... the car...is an extension of you... it goes EXACTLY where you want it to go...
I'd love one if I fit in it comfortably lol

I plan on getting on in the future as a weekend car... lotuses... amazing cars.
but then again, the Vette is also an amazing car, so is the Camaro, and teh 335i, and the 328, and the M3, and all of them

I'd be happy to afford anything that can get me to point B, but since I'm lucky enough to afford a $60k+ car, I have nothing to complain about.
And I dont think anyone else does either

Oh I know they are two totally different cars, but mostly posting about the idiots who are running scared that their precious M3 is being out handled by a "POS" American car.

Those track numbers may be irrelevant to us and is all about how the car feels to us, but is the only way to prove to these idiots that the C6 beats the M3 and 335i since the pro's are the ones able to take these vehicles to their limits.

Exactly. Brand snobs get on my nerves with their misinformation and general nuthuggery.

Yeah you're right. I'm arguing for the Vette based on my own personal vendetta against German cars, and not the fact that the Vette outhandles the M3 and 335i on the Nurburgring, one of the most well known, purpose-built, performance tracks in the world.

27k for an E92 335i is just too far for me to reach. I better start applying at my local Wal-Mart to get enough income to afford one like you.

Also you can call BS all you want, those were officially recorded times, and when it comes down to it, no one cares what you think.

I love the C6
amazing sports car
just not for me

people shouldnt call American cars, (or ANY cars really...) POS cars
Cars are an amazing engineering achievement no matter how you look at them

The C6 will kill a M3/335i depending on the driver
I'm sure that if I had the C6 Z06 and a Pro has a 328 I'd still get my ass handed to me (and I'm sure thats the same for most people here)

Hey persian54, you're not the kind of guy I'm debating against in this thread. You seem to have a realistic perspective on these cars.

The Vette is not a car most people would go for.

In fact in my personal group of friends, it seems the Lawyers and Doctors seem to buy the Porsches and BMW M3's. The pilots and track junkies usually go for the C6, or Z06.

The C6 & Z06 are raw, and take a lot of skill and nerve to take to the limit, so they're not for everyone.

Yes, it is raw, takes a lot and a lot of skill.
But remember, there is a status simple with a Porsche....
IMHO, I would take a Porsche over a vette no questions because 1) I absolutely love the styling and 2) I think it handles better for my purposes (i.e. not track lol)

I've driven the Z06... MONSTER
and the GT-R when I was in Japan, MONSTER...
but I preferred the GT-R
seemed.... easier... for a loss of a better word... to drive

My friend used to have a 1000hp+ vette
Impossible to control that monster... tire spin in all the way into 4th...
and he couldnt drive for more than 2 hours cause the oil would get too hot (took a reg stock vette, dropped a z06, and twin turboed it among other things)

I'm debating against your or anyone lol

just saying what's on my mind

It was a stock 07' 400hp vette that I could have bought for a cheap price($27,000). It was an automatic as well. That didn't help things at all either. Maybe I will buy a used Porshe instead. That sounds like a hell of a lot better idea.
Each person is entitled to their own opinion. I would personally find it suspect to believe that a C6 Vette feels slowers than a 335, even with an automatic tranny. Most credible magazines have also stated the shortcomings you noted with the interior. But everything associated to moving: steering, suspension, engine, etc. are world class competitve.

Line up your 335 at a drag strip with the Vette. You'll quickly see which car is faster.

I love these debates.

It lets me point out that the Cobalt SS even beat the 335 around the ring....

That gets a rise out of the badge whores. It's all about drag/0-60 times until you bring up a car that does it cheaper and faster. From there, we customarily have moved on to the safety subject which, until recently, was Ring times. Well, I guess that's shot to hell too. So now we've moved on to dash materials and the fact that we don't have mullets. Awesome.

haha, truth.

the vette is a no-compromises sports car and is the best performing car for the money. It's really not in the same class as a 335, so its dumb to compare them. you are paying for different things when you buy each car. And I do believe a leather dash is optional on the corvette, if you cared that much.

People buy these cars for different reasons, and those that just want speed, power, and handling get the vette. Those that want more luxury features, a more comfortable ride, wood on their dashboard, and a perceived elevation of status entitlement, get the bmw.

I throw in 2 cents. I have one of each, 08 C6 and 08 M3. While I know that the C6 is faster, I am more comfortable pushing the BMW, as it provides so much more feedback.

Although I am not a pro driver, I like to think I am relatively close, I have driven all the cars you have spoke about.
This is just my .02 take it for what you want.
Also this is purely based on overall performance (hp and handling), not going to show you times or anything just tell you the truth!

1) M3 - C6 = C6
2) M3 - C6 Z06 = Not even friggen close
3) E92 - C6 = Not even friggen close
4) E92 - C6 Z06 = Blood bath!

Btw who thought it was a good idea to compare a car with a few years of R&D to an American legend with 52 years in the making?
I agree, I am not an American made car guy at all, but guys C'mon be realistic here!
I will still own the BMW, even though I am the biggest gear head ever!

I'd be happy to own either/both for what you get and the price you pay. I'm hesitant to debate cars other than stating facts because so much is personal preference.

Yeah of course I chose the 335 for a multitude of reasons. But just because I chose the car that was best for me, that doesn't instantly make this car quantitatively better than any other one. So many badge whores here just don't get it. The best car for someone is the one that best fits them and their situation. Period. Not track times, not tunability, not the materials on the dash, and not the price tag. No one or combination of those will make one car ALWAYS and generally quantitatively better than another.

Absolutley agree 100% I think the part that got people all in a tizzy was the comment about the (lame attempt) of a new camaro being slower than the 335
