Why does this website restart daily at 11PM PST?

I’ve been noticing the last few days that this website goes down exactly at 11PM PST for some minutes. Is there some kind of maintenance happening everyday?

Probably going to get a snack, or plugging itself in.

Page updates most likely.

11pm is when COVID strikes. The site must have found a way to time space continuum and avoid it

Your parents probably set the wifi to turn off at your bedtime, because the site works for me 24/7.....

So you are refreshing the page every single minute to say this? You seem to be in NY. When was the last time you checked if this website was working at exactly 2AM EST?

I came across this glitch in the system yesterday on 2AM EST! I don't think it lasted long though. Strange.

Finally someone to acknowledge this. Yes, it is happening everyday at 11PM PST or 2AM EST. I think it only lasts for about 5-10 mins, but I’m curious to see what causes it

You're gonna have to choose between the Red pill or the Blue pill to find out.....

My best guess would be a deployment or backup or both.
Someone (poor) design that does not allow for life deployments.

For example, design may call for syncing source code across pool of existing web servers.
During this time, the "code" is inconsistent, hence poor choice is
- hold traffic
- sync source
- restart webapp
- resume traffic
- hope it works

I work at the place like this once.
When I started - 20 min "deploy outage" was norm.
6 weeks later I rolled out very simple improvement that reduced "scheduled outage" from 20 minutes to 1.5 seconds.

Solution was simple:
- deploy new code side-by-side (or on new infra)
- flip the dns and or activation symlink on the file system

Guess what? Customers noticed - employees and management did not

They never do. A better "design" can be:
- let the customers alert the management;
- let the management apply;
or
- wonder if the management care (alert them yourself, be "proactive");
- negotiate (remind them of whatever pending issues like unnoticed achievements);
- provide the solution.

I work in IT, and am on call 24/7. I'm also an old fart, who is awake before sunrise every morning. You can take it to the bank that I've been awake at 2:00 AM and reading the forum while waiting for some maintenance task to complete on the server farm at work.....

Yeah it should be something like that. It should be pretty simple to fix the website. Since it is automated anyway, they should try to push the time to somewhere later at night or hire me to fix the script lol

This is not a professional solution. They should make the schedule "connected" to yours and you should hire someone to run your public calendar.
