Christmas downer
Sorry to break the Christmas spirit on here guys but really felt the need to post after talking to my sister in NZ, Brief history:
My sis and Rich moved to NZ 2001 Baby Hannah born 2003 Richard her husband was diagnosed with bone cancer. Stem cell transplant...major complications Sperm donation from Rich pre op = Giles now 5 years old. 2 kids have known nothing but daddy ill for years Daddy is barely breathing, in a wheelchair again, after hospital for the nth time and no money to celebrate Christmas. Fast forward. Cancer gone but Richard on 33% lungs through major surgery. Sister distraught. Kids living in a hostel outside the hospital and waiting for Santa.... Upshot = 20% life expectancy. Just spoken to my sis on phone to NZ and sent some cash via Paypal cos they are skint. Their business is in Picton and they are in Christchurch over 200 miles away and she can't leave her husband cos he might die. She can't even buy the kids decent presents. The business is a private hotel that is high market and totally relying on them and they are stuck in Christchurch. I feel so powerless and crap at the moment. If anyone on here has a charitable donation to make please find it in your heart to make it to the bone cancer charities. Thanks Gav Happy Christmas. xx

Very sad, everybody thinks christmas is a happy time, and people spend absolute fortunes on what is essentially crap...when infact it can be the worst time for some, and there are people who are in this situation not even with 2 penny's to rubb together.
Fingers crossed everything goes well and they can have next christmas together happy and healthy.

Thanks for all the replies. Means a lot.
Spoke to my mum earlier as she'd been in touch with my sister. They're having the best Christmas that they can. At least the sun is shining and it's hot over there. Again, if you are wanting to do a charitable thing this year any bone cancer donations are appreciated.

What an awful situation. Must be a hell of a battle?
Best mates dad diagnosed with bone cancer three says ago. He has less than a year left. Will be busting my butt doing some big runs/tris in 2011 to raise money for bone cancer charities. |
