X2 M35i air filter different than regular X2?

Went to change my engine air filter with one I bought off Amazon two years ago and it’s a different shape. This means the fancy one I bought won’t fit either.

Will this fit the non M35i? Top one said x2 on amazon and the fancy one i bought said x2 also so that’ll be up for sale when i clean my garage so i can reach it. Lol

Sticking the dirty filter back in the car.

Yeah off the top of my head the "regular" X1 and I would assume X2 does not have the notch vs the X2 M35i does. It's really weird how they bothered to make those small differences. I just changed both air filters for our X1 and X2 m35i maybe a month or two ago.. and they are different as with the MAF slot size as I mentioned years ago when I was messing around with making my own intake.

The only other little thing to know was that the oil filters were different which is VERY close, but.. not good enough.

Thanks for the info on the oil filter. That’s the next task. No auto parts store had the filter in stock so I had one order it. Guy actually pulled the item up on screen with a picture and it matched the shape. Lol.

Hopefully the front pads I bought from fcp is the right one. I haven’t tackled M brakes yet.

Doh! I don't have the pads on hand to check.. but I *believe* that the rotors are the same size. When I was ordering things up for the wife's X1 I noticed that it said X2 M35i and by an eyeball I thought it looked the same diameter. However because the caliper is bigger in the M caliper it's a totally different pad. In fact, the M brakes are "brembo" style where there's a Pin holding the pad in. The "regular" brakes are the typical caliper where the pad has to slide after the caliper is swung open. Not sure how best to describe it, but on my Evo that had the same brembo style it was the same pin system that you could change pads lightning fast and easier.

Yes. It looks like I can punch out two pins and change the pads. The pads look like they are the right size so I have that going for me. Looking at the part number the auto parts store ordered for me, it’s going to be the wrong size again even though the picture showed the notch. Here’s hoping it’s the right part tomorrow. And I just noticed someone stole one of my valve stem caps.

--- If not, I'll just keep them in the car and wait till I see an X1 or X2 non M35i and ask them. lol. that's what I did with my weather techs. Found someone in an X2 at the mall and said do you want these?

The oil filters between M & non-M X2's are very different. I posted a thread with pics of the difference about a year or so ago.
