That blue still looks amazing!

I'm not in the market for this vehicle but I hope this color finds its way to other models.

I'd say that this car incorporates everything that has gone wrong with BMW in the last years.
Frugly design; aggressive styling that gets irritating after a while, since it does not hold any beauty. Geared towards fast leasing deals (in Germany every second "sold" BMW gets financed by BMW to keep the sales going), flash looks, flash sales and therefore price does not matter, even less value/price ratio.
Long term ownership? Are you, the customer, joking? Be trendy, be hip, be a sugar bee on BMW's finance nectar.
Once BMW was about quality and enthusiasts driving them around for years.

But, the customer base is eroding as is the image. Especially by the FWD BMWs that are really badly made and engineered (from automatic transmissions in the 2 Van that cannot be repaired, maintained and are cheap Asian imports, to solutions where you have to lift the entire engine out of the car to change the belt,...).

Give me a real color and an M40i trim and you have an amazing "entry-level" high performance SAV

I do not understand why this exists. It seems like Harald Krüger was like
- "Okay, we are missing some numbers. Mercedes will think we cannot count. Fill in the gaps as soon possible!"
- "Mr. Krüger, what do we fill them with?"
- "Take the common traits of the existing models and mush them all together, just do it quickly!"

Not cool BMW, not cool.

Not possible to do the B58 sideways. And just typing that makes me miss our E84 35i.

I know that I was referring to the tuned up b48 they're releasing. I guess nomenclature would be 35i or something.

My point still stands lol

Still saddled with an old version of Haldex and tiny little rear drive shafts. Should be about as fun as a MkV R32. Too bad they've built two better ones since then and they're all cheaper. BMW is in the woods.

This is a pretty inexpensive addition to the line up. Basically new sheet metal, suspension tuning and wheels along with whatever plastic bits are different inside the cabin.

It makes even more sense when you see the sheer volume these little SAVs sell in.

Sure does. And I'm sure they'll add a plug in hybrid version. None of this keeps me from hating the future or muttering about where all the M Coupes have gone while starting a fire with two sticks.

It exists because years back a certain peculiar group surfaced at BMW headquarters (with help from Stefan Quandt).
The idea was to generate sales with mushroom growth expansion; just keep throwing out "new" models, slap the badge and make "good enough" quality. The worst product (quality) of this idea are the FWD cars.
Lousy interiors, half baked design and model concepts, in short, the customers have begun to talk that BMW is going the Audi way (Audi is now working hard to repair its image).
Just to give you an idea; BMW is burning through their marketing directors; now they've got themselves someone who used to sell electric toothbrushes and feet-baths; to make an infusion of freshness considering the sales are stagnating and that Mercedes has overtaken them years before the announced break-even.

There is a group that is pushing for quality, better design and more life oriented concepts, but a lot of management needs to leave first and they've gotten very well organised.

BMW's transformation to a consumer friendly brand for the masses is complete! This includes the dilution and proliferation of the once meaningful M brand. Add in the fact this company no longer has any viability, credibility or meaningful presence in the world of racing and I'd call these guys done from the enthusiast perspective. Finished.

P.S. keep putting slush boxes in M cars fellas that's the ticket! Make sure they get bigger and heavier too.

Hard to believe they approved that front end design for production.

This is not a SAV. This is a crossover, 4-door, mini van.

BMW should go back to the days when they only had 3,5,7, X5, X3.

This vehicle is fine but BMW no longer makes BMWs as you know them, and we just have to deal with that reality.
