BMW Eye 2.0
What's up all. So I inquired with a local BMW dealer for the cost and installation of the dash cam for a 2017 X1. They quoted me at 1400 bucks. That seems outlandish. What are your thoughts? Anyone have the Eye 2.0 installed? Cost? Do you like it?

Yes I do, it works very well front and rear. The software to view is good and you can watch front and rear replay on the split screen simultaneously. You can store clips on your pc. It also records when parked if vehicle is interfered with. I forget the cost I think to have it fitted and wired in from new was about £400

You can get 4K dash cam + additional life battery system cheaper than BMW and more discreet on the windshield. BMW eyes carry the brand name but it is not comparable with top of the lines systems in the market.

I dont know if other cameras detect movement when parked.
BMW Advanced Car Eye 2.0 is a highly sensitive full HD camera that captures events in front of and behind the vehicle, even at night and when it is parked. Thanks to intelligent radar technology and G sensor, disturbances and extraordinary movement can be detected outside the vehicle and distinguished from normal movement. The camera automatically records the situation in order to document possible accidents or (attempted) break-ins. Parking mode The ACE 2.0 automatically switches to parking mode when the car's ignition is switched off. The area in front of and behind the car can be monitored by the radar and G sensors.
