Blind Spot Mirror Light

Any reason X2 doesn't have blind spot mirror system?

Any way to add it?

For a vehicle this price, surprised that it doesn't have it.

No, nope, and all of us are too.

I find that adjusting the mirrors far outward, so you can't see the sides of the car at all, gives a surprisingly good, wide view. I normally adjust a car this way but it's even better in this one. I'm considering adding a small stick-on round convex mirror though.

Anyone pop off the mirror to see if wiring is there?

If so, mirror replacement and coding could do it.

It's more than wiring, there needs to be a camera, and a way for it to see through the glass (or hang below the housing). Worth a look, I guess! Might be different on each side.

Wait, what? No camera is needed. We already have sensors. Heck my Civic and STI had the same sensors but also had mirror lights.

Im in the market for an X2 and i just asked a sales person as to why the x2 didnt have blind spot warning.

According to the sales rep. because the x2 and x1 are considered crossovers "they are too low to the ground to get that option"

that doesnt sound right because ive seen sedans with warning lights. weird.

Honestly I'm bummed that the X1 and X2 didn't have it.. yet at the same time I didn't really say it was some awesome feature when we had it on other cars. Some cars I've driven in give more false warnings than others, yet even though there's a light there I still shoulder check anyways. So far I feel that the X1 and X2 are both small enough that I can see plenty of things around me that I don't "need" it. Still if it was an option I would have purchased it. I did test drive a 3 or a 4 series with it, and it wasn't operating as "well" as the other cars I've owned at the time. Eventually it'll all be standard I'm sure, but my piece of mind is that I am not really missing out on a lot.

There are aftermarket options - but they are pretty expensive:

That link looks pretty cool... the only thing I can say is that looking at the replacement mirror, you'd lose the defrosted/heated mirrors. Not a big deal buster, but it sure is handy in MA in the winter that it melts the snow/ice off....

This, 100%. Been a complete non-issue for me even though I'm another person not understanding how I can own this car that can parallel-park itself but has no BSM capability.

Ever thought about upgrading to the Euro wide angle (aspherical) mirrors?

they are #1 & #2 in the diagram (Euro side of the database):

X1 - https://bimmercat.com/bmw/en/search/...42/ECE/51_9853
X2 - https://bimmercat.com/bmw/en/parts/i...ft/51167302013

Here's an example of the plain driver's side mirror vs the wide angle (aspherical) mirror:

I had mine installed by a shop, it works great, the installation is easy the hard part is just passing the cable from the trunk over to both front doors/mirror this was the only reason why i didnt install it myself

I have installed the same system in our other car (Nissan) without the need to go to a 3rd party installer as its easier to pass cables

If you want I can share pictures of the system working
