F48 5 Newbie questions
Hi guys, I just got my F48 65plate yesterday. Owned a few beemers before but not an X1.
I have a few questions that bug my head. 1. why is the radio still playin after the engine has been switched off, doors closed? Can I switch it off somewhere inside the satnav? 2. I dont like the dimming of the satnav when it gets dark. I have both the night and day brightness on max but still it will do its own thing 3. it seems its a quite thirsty car (mine is the 2.0d xline xdrive). Any tips except the AC being off? Will switching start stop help? 4. I find the comfort mode the best to drive around. The eco pro is just jumpy and late to responde on throttle. what mode do you guys use and what sort mpg are you gettin? 5. the lights! I have them in position 0 and they still come when it just very slightly darkens? My previous beemers would have the LEDs on while the lights were switched off. The lights would not come on unless I turned the button Sorry for the many answers but trying get on top of things quickly so I can enjoy sooner. Thanks for answers |

have to press the start/stop button twice for radio to kick off. i tried to code this to shut off when door is opened, but didn't work for me.
just press start/stop twice (one for ignition) and 2nd time to kill radio. kinda annoying but i'm used to it now. i always drive in comfort mode myself - i'm about 23/24 city - closer to 30 highway. |

I drove 99% of the time in comfort mode, I found eco mode boring and the poor throttle response irritating, in sport mode I found the car to be fidgety on the road (I did not have adaptive suspension) which I took to be result of gearbox/throttle response. If you are not happy with lights then change setting from auto to off/manual, I am not aware that sensitivity can be changed, sorry. |

With the mpg Im averaging 40, thats on a 40-50mph limit with some traffic involved. I thought it will be better for some reason but hey its a heavier car than the E92 and its a 4 wheel drive. So probably thats fine. Finally lights. I went trough my nav. system today and cant find it. The lights switch is a position 0 but behaves like it is an auto mode. So when there is a cloud at 4pm it will turn on the lights ( green indicator pops up on the cluster displey ). This truly irritates me as what is the auto position for then. It will behave exactly the same. Basically I have no control above when the lights turn on or off. Could this be that my car is running an old software ( first reg dec 2015)? The maps are 2015 so think it has never been updated since new. Could you pinpoint me where exactly it the auto/manual setting so I can change it? Many thanks and sorry for the long message |

You are quoting for the 2.8i Gasoline engine! Is that imperial gallons or US gallons?

For my UK 2020 LCI xDrive 2.0i MSport (192 bhp) Gasoline engine, over the last 2550 miles it is averaging 34.8 mpg (Imperial).

Remember that marticztn 21 mpg is per US gallon so for imperial it is approx 25.2 mpg (Us models are petrol). Still not great but with lower fuel prices than europe, cost per mile/km is still lower.

Hi guys I'm averaging 45 mpg (imp) 2.0d 4/4 mixed driving, but don't have a particular heavy foot, this is in comfort. You should note any driving in ECO pro is permanent 2 wheel drive only.
Concerning lights and radio these may be different from previous BM's but things move on and not always for the better |
