Post x1 Diesel Engine Check Warning - 2ba100 error code

I have 2019 Diesel X1 and it recently doing very short trip 1-2 miles/day and occasionally 30-40 miles in 10 days . Could it because of this and also would a long drive on sports mode would clear this .

I am trying to book appointment with BMW specialist Garage but dont have anything available for next 4 weeks , Can I still drive the car as there is no noticeable problem apart from the engine check

A common reason for this fault code is a faulty diesel particulate sensor. After replacement fault codes need to be reset and a forced DPF regeneration cycle initiated. If the error code comes back, then the NOx sensor is next suspect. Occasionally it can be tricky to solve as there are a number of sensors and engine mgt parameters which can throw this code.
Lots of short journeys can/do prevent/hamper proper DPF regeneration which needs longer journeys with exhaust system coming up to higher temperatures and your suggested long drive (certainly more than 30 mins) running car at higher revs can certainly help your DPF. An unhappy/clogged DPF usually results in higher exhaust gas pressure which throws a different (480/481) error codes so is unlikely to be the cause of this error code.

As long as your car doesn’t have any other symptoms then driving the car should probably be o.k but obviously it is your judgement call. The warning light will not go out until codes have been reset (after problem fixed).

Thanks a lot for your reply , they are quoting around £360 to renew the sensor and regenerate . I got it checked from some other Garage as Halfords who originally provided the error codes they wouldnt fix it .

I am just worried that once I get this sensor changed hopefully it shouldnt start alarming for something else again .
