fuel pump. high pressure versus low pressure?
2016 F48
155k+ miles I occasionally get engine hesitancy with a cold start. The engine will then die once I put the car in reverse. I can then restart the engine with less hesitancy and reverse back as usual. Symptoms have become more persistent in the cold weather but may be a coincidence. I have also been getting "mixture too lean" and "air mass too high" error codes which may be related to poor fuel delivery to the engine. I suspect a fuel pump is the fault but how can I determine if it is the high-pressure or low-pressure pump that is failing? Or both? Last edited by bluemagnet; 01-12-2024 at 11:57 PM.. |

I did the smoke test and noted a part of the intake to be loose. Fixed that. No more obvious leaks w/ repeated smoke test. Still getting the engine code. Any idea?

For the engine hesitancy at cold start and dying in reverse (when cold) did you have the software update for this performed? This was a common issue, the software update resolved our issue a few years ago.

I am also considering the fuel injectors as a culprit to the error code in addition to the high pressure pump |
