Are wheel locks still a thing?

I know they are sold, but what I mean is, are they still needed? I am enamored with my new 2021 Xline. I just got the standard wheels. Are people trying to steal these things nowadays? Do I need wheel locks? And if yes, any recommendations? Do I have to buy the ones from BMW?

Wheel locks will slow down the occasional meth head, but if a person wants to get your wheels, there’s 100 ways to get a wheel lock off quickly...Just search YouTube and they will show you. I bought gorilla wheel locks in the past, they look good, and work as well as anything else.

Thank you. Next dumb question is, how do I determine thread size?

Doesn't your X1 have a locking wheel bolt on each wheel? That is the case in the UK, with one such bolt fitted to each wheel and an adaptor for removal is supplied as part of the standard equipment.

It does not. Perhaps a USA thing. Wheel locks were not included.
