Haven't done it on an M35i. BE CAREFUL if you do. But report back regardless.

Looking at 330i tunes, they are hitting near the reported numbers of the M35i with higher compression and no beefed up internals. I do agree though that going up to 25psi or so seems silly but there are reports now that Bmw is thinking about a 360hp version of this engine to compete with the amg 45s.

I think good things will come if we are patient - this engine is going into a lot of vehicles that appeal to those who like to tune vehicles ( M135, Mini jcw) so I think ecu tunes are just a matter of time. BMW always seems to leave a bit on the table with their engines also...

This little 4 cyl reminds me of the days I used to play with mitsubishi cars.. I do remember running up to 40psi on a very very large turbo and making close to 600awhp without the beauty of methanol injection or e85. As long as the engine block can handle it.. more boost is more power. Of course the other limiting factor would be how much air the stock turbo can actually push. If billnchristy saw the 330i tunes going up, I have zero doubt the m35i would handle more. The compression is different as well as the turbo is a little bigger for us. There will always be a lot more on tap since the margin of error and overbuilding things is common. Although with the mercedes amg 4 cyl I think they have pushed it really far.

I doubt we’d have a problem pushing 26lbs or more if the stock turbo is hitting 20 in some tunes.

But when will the transmission in the X2 M35i break? How beefy 'truly' is ours?
