"Phone call" volume issue, how to force fix?
I have no idea what triggers it, but periodically I will lose all audio from the radio, CarPlay, SiriusXM, etc (nav audio continues to work). When I turn the volume knob, the display will say "Phone Call". I am not on a phone call. Restarting or turning off my phone does nothing. Clearly this is some kind of bug. If I turn the car off fully and let it set until it totally shuts down, when I start the car back up, the issue is no longer present. But it always returns.
Does anyone have any ideas what is triggering this? Is there a way to manually 'reboot' the iDrive system (which would hopefully fix this)? |

Do you have anything plugged into the USB under the arm rest?
Are there any other bluetooth devices connected to your idrive? Did you force reset your idrive back to factory settings? Did you use a USB to upgrade to the latest version of idrive from the BMW international website? Zzzz |

Are you using an iPhone?
Apple iPhone with Siri can do this if Siri activates but your phone is on silent. (Or Apple Watch can pick up what it thinks is hey Siri activation by accident also) Try disabling Siri see if it stops happening. Have had this happen a few times it mutes everything and thinks it in phone call mode. Usually goes away once nothing happens but if you continue talking or cursing at the system it may stay listening to you. |

You can also disable the setting "listen for hey Siri"'so you have to double push the button on phone or watch to activate Siri instead.
Could be your problem. Or maybe the button is getting double pushed in your pocket or by your wrist when driving on the watch. (Can stop watch issue by turning watch other way around so button points up your arm) |
