Yeah most teams are running floor stays now (probably to make the floors thinner in a bid to save weight) but they are hidden behind their side pods, guess redbull tapered down the side pod so you can see them sticking out.

Marko has said RB's internal investigation of downloaded data in response to the amr22b yielded nothing: https://www.google.com/amp/s/racingn...in-dispute/amp

So as per usual Helmut making alot of noise without proof to back it up. Most likely the amr22b was a visual copy, which is fine so long as the teams have the data to back up their work.

Yes, design seems heading to a zero ++ sidepod design.

Supporting the matter in court requires a threshold of data. I suspect Marko made a strategic move for the moment, but I suspect the matter is far from over.

Yeah they want more air flow to the back + less mass so that seems to be the trend.

Marko always talks smack so im not suprised, if it was horner saying they have data then it would be believeable/more trust worthy. But marko always talks crazy.

It is interesting seeing all these wing designs. The merc always is weird to me since it is so flat and has no spoon section. It does optimize drs since it is max width all the way across vs. a spoon shape, but you don't generate the same amount of downforce.

Kyle's analysis of the rb18's floor:

Some pretty interesting details redbull has on this floor.

HAAS rear wing upgrade, very interesting. It is really really agressively trimed and very shallow so my expectation is haas will have some very fast straight line speeds.

1) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FUzZz_KWUAYpZzE.jpg

It reminds me of mercedes's low downforce wing + the cut outs of the top element from before.

I saw Hammy hopping merrily along on the straigths.
Anyone know what that's all about?
Toto assured the porpoising was solved and that they understood it fully....
So surely it can't be that...

Looks like Ferrari also have this problem. This track is ruthless on porpoising

The RB18 seems to have way less problems with it

Could still be suspension related... Porpoising is too often used when bouncing is seen, just like in monaco.

The ferrari's are bouncing with drs open and a low drag setup, not really indicative of porpoising. But only time will tell as the teams start talking analytics, the phenomenon is way too difficult to judge just by looks.

Is the Redbull rear wing trying to help take off with the flapping?

Carbon Fibre is very strong but over the entire race I'd be worry that it would fail with that amplitude.

Yeah looks to me too that RB still hasn't solved the problems with the DRS system.
That flapping/vibrating of course also gives strain on the actuator.
This is not a problem you want to have on this track with the long straigths.

They're saying it's because the redbull is bouncing down the straights but just not as badly as the merc and ferrari:

From the f1 live track feedback:
"The wind on the main straight is still insane," says Verstappen, echoing his earlier sentiments. While he might not be porpoising as much as the Ferrari and Mercedes car, the Red Bull is bouncing down the straight which can clearly be seen in the flapping DRS mechanism. "

The carbon fiber they use is really high quality and won't fail from fatigue for one weekend. The more concerning part would be the hinges/supports binding.

To me it looked like Max DRS flap wasn't flapping because of the bouncing but because of turbulence.
I didn't see that at Checo's car. Can anyone confirm if Checo had that too or not?
I've missed FP2 so don't know what happened there.

It could be anything if the mechanism is too light and flimsy

In practice Hamilton looked like he was really getting shaken up. The uneven bumpy surface added on top of the purposing looked almost violent. No wonder he's been complaining about his spine and back. Yikes.. Like riding a bucking bronco.

Mercs are looking hopeless here.. Lewis couldnt even reach enough speed to overtake Perez in practice with tow and DRS on the main straight.. engine and gear ratios was on the limit.. thats not good.. a podium d be big big surprise...
