Replacing front brakes, mounting bolt won't come loose
Hello all,
I am trying to replace the front pads and rotors on my 17 X1. I am having trouble getting the two bolts out that hold the mounting brackets for the brake pads (see pic). Before I strip the head or break something, is this bolt reverse thread by any chance? I’ve tried everything I can think of to get them loose but they won’t budge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

They are regular bolts. Blow torch and penetrating oil combo might help it loosen. Good luck.

Regular bolts and regular direction...yours don't look corroded at all.. but maybe the socket you used wasn't great? use a 12point socket and a 1/2" breaker bar? Can't remember if it's a weird size like 18mm.. impact gun might help. Definitely a torch (but don't melt your brake line that's close. Looks like you have some penetrating oil on it already. I use PB blaster myself.

Just wanted to post an update. Got them off with some PB blaster and a good breaker bar. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t making it harder on myself if they were reverse thread for some odd reason. Thanks for the help and suggestions!
