High spec car has most options. Willing to change the head unit as I really want car play. If all info on this can provided I’d really appreciate it.
Prefer to have CarPlay through the OEM route not a third party box added. Hence why I’d be willing to get a new bmw head unit that’s compatible.

Car has WLAN port, although Fullscreen Carplay requires Firmware Update.

Am I able to add/code/activate CarPlay or only MMI

I understand I can't activate CarPlay on my unit, but what about changing the head unit, is it possible to buy one from some other car? Like something recent for 2022...?

Kinda silly question, but will I be able to continue using map updates from BMW (I've purchased 1y subscription recently) after I upgrade the firmware and enable CarPlay? I would love to keep the built-in navigation for cases when my phone is in roaming and using CarPlay for navigation is too expensive.

Also, any advice on what amperage should I be looking for when buying a battery charger to keep the juice in my car's battery while performing the firmware upgrade? I'm surprised that 70A battery might not do it through the process if it takes just half an hour.

I have just purchased a 06/2020 BMW X2 (second hand). It doesn't have any wifi package (6CP, hotspot, wireless charger) as you can see with VIN code: 5R51904

My navigator is a 8.8 screen. Info:

BMW group 101011913.1.00
Roadmap Europe WAY 2019-3
Q2051B1R

I am pretty sure that I have no antenna right now but how likely is that I have a wifi port so I can attach a Wifi antenna and then proceed to enable carplay?

Apparently it is important to know if it is a ENAVEVO or NBT_EVO. Any hint on how to determine this?

It has a business package (BMW connected services) just in case it is relevant.

I reply myself. It is an entrynav2.

Anyway, my question still is how often an entrynav2 (8,8screen) without 6cp, hotspot and wirless charge comes with wlan port.

I feel perfectly capable of attach an antenna and then buy a fsc/provision to enable it.

Does the hwel esys method say with total accuracy, 100%, if wlan port is present?
I could try this instead of dissasembling the hu.
