Shortcut Buttons
So diving in to all the features of my new X2 - and my salesguy programmed button #1 as a shortcut for Apple CarPlay to show me an example. Trying to figure out what other shortcuts will be useful to me. Curious to hear what others are finding to be useful shortcuts to use with these buttons - share your tips/tricks!

I tried to use a shortcut for the sport gauges - but it said it was unavailable. I'm sure I am doing something wrong as I have yet to really sit with the car and read the manual. Do you code the button with the selection highlighted - or do you have to execute the command first then hit the desired button?

I have wife's cell phone and tire pressure. I also coded to get tire temperature too. I find that phone numbers aren't all that helpful since the voice commands work most of the time
So for the tire pressure I had the screen up then pressed the shortcut button |

Quick dial, weather, sports display, tire pressure/temp, oil, Units (KPH to MPH), BMW Concierge, and can't remember the others because I don't use them frequently enough

You have to be in the menu before the selection and highlight then save, same with nav

Yes basically you have to be one step before you press down the knob to get to it... that threw me for a loop for a little while. I have radio stations programmed, as well as the shortcut to the memory stick for music. Also sports gauges. I used to have navigate home but sometimes I pressed it and even though Idrive has gotten better over the years, it's still a little too complicated to cancel directions/navigation. I have my cell phone on a magnet holder on the main vents and sometimes just grabbing my phone it'll set off the buttons.

Love that BMW allows me to customize everything. And I surely have used all of those for my liking! Now it would be cool if we can use a button as a MACRO of sorts for further personalization.

They call those ‘m’ buttons and we’re not cool enough to have them.

I use mine mostly for radio station presets...yes..very 1980s
but also for a shortcut to navigate home. And thinking of one for either sports instruments, or toggling my adaptive suspension between Suspension and Drivetrain, or just Drivetrain...

mrmike- do you mean you have a list of radio favourites that you can bring up by pressing shortcut '1'? That might be good, rather than what I do now is have each shortcut button programmed to my favourite stations.
cheers

Yes, exactly. When I press 1 it takes me to my stored stations in the Favorites list. Very convenient.
