In my opinion, it looks quite similar to the F48 X1 from the side.

Enthusiasts would do well to accept the fact that there is only one formula that allows us to continue to enjoy RWD, enthusiast-focused automobiles from BMW:

Step 1) Build and bring to market cars that the average consumer wants.
Step 2) Sell a ton of them and reap the profits.
Step 3) Use those profits to continue to produce cars like the M line-up, which honestly, have very little direct business case for producing.

And yes, I recognize that BMW's brand is built on the "cars for drivers" image, but every time I get to thinking that this means they actually need to build drivers cars, I'm reminded of the survey wherein 90% of 1-series owners had no idea their car was RWD. I also have to look across the aisle to Audi, where I see FWD and FWD-based AWD cars selling like crazy.

Finally, I have to look at myself and recognize that for our household, an X3 was a fantastic purchase. The wife prefers the higher seating position when compared to a wagon, and I don't find the driving dynamics completely abhorrent.

In short, don't be a whiney little brat. So far, BMW keeps producing the cars we want. M2 anyone? The X line-up isn't dilution, it's funding. It's the funding that keeps the dream alive.

Comparison to X1. Obviously this is a non-contiguous comparison, as there has never been an X2 before, but it's interesting to see the profile comparison. The X2 looks very sporty.

Just ONE time, will BMW let the final product be close to the aggressive concept? I'll never forget my disappointment when I saw X4 reveals... Hopefully they pull this one through to something desirable.

Bigger wheels? What are those, 21"? And a SAV/SUV/whatever isn't meant to be slammed.

Ok, so gap reduction then - I wasn't thinking slammed, but a smaller gap between the tire and wheel well would look nicer IMO.

Sure, it's an SUV...but it ain't going off road either.

As a German, I can tell you we love minimalism and a clean design. Germans love a sleeper that doesn't give off its hand right away.
This vehicle looks cheap and loud like an attention seeking girl at a club with 10lbs of make up on and sequins and glitter all over.

Pretty sure this is going to be on UKL, so FWD and AWD only.

I've got more bad news for you. It's reeeeealy hard to fit an I6 in an engine bay sideways. The UKL platform, being FWD, uses a transverse engine orientation. This means no B58.

EDIT: This assumes it will be built on the UKL platform. It's still in concept phase, so I have no idea if that's confirmed. The X1 is built on UKL, so that's why the assumption is being made.

Are you one of these "employed by others to make a product look bad" internet assholes?

"The vehicle looks cheap"

You are out of your depth or a fake......

The next X3 gets the same sharp face and detailing.

Until now, almost every render of a new BMW model that people released on the web had upside-down kindneys and thanks god BMW ignored them.....

It seems after fixing the hood line that was wrong for 7 years....we'll only be having two years of 'peace', 2015 and 2016. On 2017...bad again.

A front with a V shape will always look better and sportier than one with an A shape.......

But the X1 has an N55 in the 35i and AWD.

The old X1 had the N55, and was based off the E91 3-series platform. The new X1 (UKL platform) only has the N20 in the US market. In other markets, they have additional engine options, but none of them are 6-cylinder.

Have a look:

Gotcha. Thanks guys. That's very depressing. I think I'm just going to do a European delivery M2 when I get to Italy anyways. Maybe an X3M for the wife.
