Wanted to compare and contrast my new X1 with my M2 Competition and point out some unique features. I also found a number of interesting options and ways to build a great car using some cost saving options. Hope it is beneficial to those looking to buy or lease one. Enjoy!

Nice review, I just didn't get why you keep mentioning that it is good for a second car. IMO it's also very good for a first/only car, since it is a perfect all-in-one vehicle

I would agree. Quite versatile! I guess I was suggesting it as a second car as some of my subscribers are interested in M cars and I've done a few videos on my M2 Competition. Thanks for watching!

Nice! True about MSport, I honestly prefer the Xline silver trims compared to the Msport.

It is surprising to me that you find the steering feel satisfactory, especially at freeway speeds, i find it abysmal. I think that BMW screwed up here. I feel that I am sitting on the front axle. I asked my tire shop what the factory caster angle is and he told me it's 4,96!

I remember at the launch of the X2 BMW people stressing that the x2 is sportier and has different geometry up front.

If anybody has any pics of the strut towers exposed pls share. Or if anybody has experience with camber plates on the F48 let us know.

Interesting. Don't know about the castor angle, but we had a 2016 X3 and the main improvement is in the electric steering. The same was the case in a HUGE way from my 2017 M2 to the new 2019 M2 Comp. This purely relates to the response of the electric steering on center and just off center. From my video, you'll see quite clearly how much more responsive the steering is in returning to center. This would not happen in an earlier car. I would be stunned to hear about anyone bolting camber plates to an X1...

That's pretty impressive range. Averaging a little less than 15 mpg, I've gotten less than 180 miles out of my M2C. The most gas I've ever put in it was 13 gallons and it was DRY!

BMWs all seem to have small tanks comparing to other cars I have. Normally, a good sized tank would be around 20 gal. The so called large capacity tank is still only 16 gal in the X1, but this car is returning some impressive mileage. I am getting 400 miles in combined driving with 70+ mile reserve to go on a full tank. Still wish this car had a 20 gal tank though, the range would have been well over 500 miles.

Me too. Very impressive range. Compared to my M2, the tank is a third bigger. Such a silly weight/cost saver to put a tiny tank in a car. At least the 16 gal is decent and the mileage is pretty impressive given the sporty 0-60 times. It's all a gift of adding an 8 speed transmission.

Not a lot of size, but great combo, right? Stay away from the M2 Competition... it will be very tempting

Thanks for the review! I’m thinking about buying a newer BMW for riding the local badlands. The roads in the area are pretty bad, and I need a car that would be more resistant to all the difficulties of the way than my current Nissan Silvia. I really love this car, and I don’t want to total in on the local roads.
I got this Nissan two years ago from jdmbuysell.com, and it’s been my favorite car ever since. But it’s not the most effective car from a practical point of view.
So, do you think an X1 will be a better option for bad roads?
