X2 M35i with 18" wheel installed.
After much research on the internet, I came to the conclusion that 18x8 may be best for my X2.
I ordered a wheel tire combo from tirerack. Wheel: TRMOTORSPORT C4 18x8 ET35 Tire: Kumho Majesty 9 225/50-18 Price + shipping: $1411 Why the wheel and tire: Wheel: While I was in college in the late 90s, I wanted Volk TE37 in my Civic CRX but too poor to afford a set. Now that I can afford a little more, I think it is a good replacement for stock 20". Having to replace tires on stock M550i 20" due to road hazards, I don't want to deal with that again. Furthermore, it was a chance to fulfill my childhood dream. After reading a couple of reviews on 2addicts.com, I concluded that TR C4 18" will definitely fit, about 1/2" clear of the front brake caliper. Tire: This car will be a daily, dirt road, and occasional construction site visit. Tirerack has a good review on this tire in the same tire category and price range. Weight: Stock: 53.2 lbs 18" C4: 45.4 lbs Feedback: After a quick 5 miles round trip to reset TPMS, I've noticed that the 18" ride smoother, as expected, than stock. As far as grip is concerned, I don't feel any less than stock. Maybe the grip level will become more apparent during high-speed cornering or emergency braking situation. Otherwise, I think this setup will be fine for my intended use. Happy New Year folks! |

and seeing as you're also in socal, i guess this is going to be your year-round setup.

Yes, it will be my year-round setup. I picked up this car at just under 4000 miles on the odometer. We will see how it will do after a few months and few thousand miles on the odometer. Happy New Year |

Glad to see I'm not the only one going the other way. I picked up my X2 begin of December drove it home and put on the 17" winter wheels. When taking off the 19" I flopped them down in the floor only to hear aluminum on concrete floor, good thing it was the back of the wheel. Why would you put on tires that are narrow than the wheel?! Looking closer at the wheels I don't care for the tiny sidewalls. So I have a brand new set of 19" run flat wheel and tire set up with 700km on them, to replace they would be $$$$.
I'm thinking I will sell them get a set of 18" with 235/55 or 245/55 summer performance tires, not sure if I'll do run flats. I'm thinking the looks, and ride will be better with the bigger sidewall, and I very much doubt I will loose any performance with a wider softer tire. anyone know if a 245 will fit? The other benefit is the speedometer will be correct. |

Where do you live in SoCal that you'd benefit from this setup? Or is it just a personal preference? I know you mentioned visiting construction sites occasionally and dirt roads daily and I'm struggling to think of an area in metropolitan SoCal where dirt roads are commonplace.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I haven’t even test drove it yet. My appointment is for tomorrow but here I am now taking my snow tires off my 430 F33, taking bm3 off and flashing to stock and trying to find the factory amp to reinstall it. I just remembered that I need to take my SmartTop module out.
Just in case I fall in love tomorrow... It’s a black on black ‘19 with 3300 miles on it. |

Wow! I thought I was going to get the Alfa. Test drove the Alfa Stelvio first.
Nope. BMW wins, hands down. Will post a new thread with pics once I finish the paperwork. |
