Thats pretty neat. Anytime I see one of these articles, I always wonder if the car is delivered with the engine. I've heard of people having just the chassis of former race cars with no engine, which kind of makes sense to an extent.

There's also the Ferrari F1 Clienti Program...you buy one of their ex-f1 cars...Ferrari keeps and maintains it.

https://races.ferrari.com/en/corse-clienti/f1-clienti/

"Since 2003 the F1 Clienti programme has permitted a small group of people to buy F1 cars and has enabled those who bought them earlier use them to the fullest. Corse Clienti makes the car’s owner feel like a real Scuderia Ferrari driver. Owners don’t have to worry about anything except putting on their gloves and helmet, driving and have fun, Corse Clienti does the rest."

OK....I "need" to do this....perhaps it won't happen in this life, but its fun to dream about something like this.

About 5 years ago, we were at a high-end exotic car show hosted at the AACA Museum.
There sat an '03 or '04 Jordan EJ13 (or 14, can't remember which)...it was spectacular! Talking with the two people handling the car, we were told that when the owner wanted to drive it, a call went to Cosworth (in England of course) to arrange having two techs fly over to ready it's V10 for use. They then would stay with the car until the owner finished playing, after which they prepped the engine for storage. Imagine what the cost of an outing like that in your own F1 car is.

Such a great story - I believe the early 2000's era brought us the 18,000-20,000 RPM V10's with pneumatic valve control (b/c the traditional valve springs could not respond fast enough to this level of RPM)....and the sound of a V10 @ redline brings shivers....

Probably yes I would think, the engine with others stays put at Maranello and apart from one/two on display they are probably disassembled and melted down to use the alloy in future engines.

actually what video guy doesnt say that you cant go and randomly buy an FXX.. im not sure Ferrari d let that.. just like when Ferrari was choosing who can buy one i believe they do the same thing.. you need to buy few of popular models and lets saying buying a hyped optioned Portofino to get some attention from Ferrari then things can go north.. but one way or another yeah this what money for..

edit found a video for it.. Portofino example is the same..

They come to Road Atlanta every year for one of these events and its a real treat to go out and watch and listen. Two years ago, someone brought out Marc Gene (Formula 1 test driver...) and put him in a car. He smashed the lap record at Road A with a time of 1:01.xx.

For reference, Spec e46 cars are turning 1:36-37.
